This is by far the most expected match of the week in the English top-flight league. Arsenal will be hoping to return to winning ways following their 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Brentford, while Chelsea enter this clash on the back of a superb 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the 1st round.

Arsenal: Takes After First Round

Mikel Arteta’s days as Arsenal’s manager are numbered. He was very nervous for the entire match, probably because of the problems inside the dressing room. We all know that both strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were both unavailable for Arsenal in their opening game due to being unwell. In the pre-match press conference, Arteta looked like he’s hiding something and held back from saying more.

Not just that, but the English media reported that Arteta wanted to sell Aubameyang having serious concers about his goal-scoring form. Everyone questioned this decision and the lack of info offered by the Spanish manager and rumors say that the 2 forwards refused to play against Brentford having big issues with Arteta’s managerial style.

This week, the club declared that the 4 players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Willian and back-up goalkeeper Alex Runarsson tested positive with Covid, that’s the reason they were left out of the squad. Logically, they should also miss the 1st home EPL game of the season against Chelsea.

The Gunners are also missing Eddie Nketiah, who won’t be back in training until September because of an ankle injury. That leaves them with just 2 strikers, Gaberiel Martinelli who returned from the Olympic games missing most of Arsenal’s pre-season friendlies and Folarin Balogun.

Chelsea: Takes After First Round

Chelseas have made a strong start to the new campaign. They won the Super Cup beating Europa League winners, Villarreal, on penalties and they kicked off their domestic season with an impressive 3-0 win against Crystal Palace. They also improved their squad by adding last year’s Serie A MVP and champion, former Inter striker, Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium superstar, who declared that 2 years in Italy helped him master all the facets of the game, loves to play with the back to the goal and can keep possession out of long balls, acting like a pivot. His strength and athleticism as well as his ability to offer great assists and his killer instinct will surely increase the number of scoring chances and goals during the season. Last season, Chelsea netted 58 goals in Premier League, this season we expect that number to be over 70 with Lukaku fighting for the EPL golden boot trophy.

Against Crystal Palace, the Blues favored longshots being very efficient at creating scoring opportunities from this type of situation. They delivered 22 crosses for their strikers having a massive amount of possession in their opponent’s half.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea Predictions

The visitors are odds-on favorites to win at the Emirates and 95% of the public bets are on an away win. We can’t see another result here. For Arteta a positive result against the Blues is vital, that’s why he will be hoping for a strong response after the dismal season opener defeat to Brentford.

Arsenal won their last 3 head-to-heads against Chelsea and are unbeaten in the last 4 fixtures across all competitions, but the situation is totally different right now. Arsenal’s internal issues, their injuries, and lack of attacking firepower will make it very tough for them not only to win point/s against Chelsea but also to find the back of the net.

Chelsea continue to look very strong at the back so the ‘both teams to score NO’ market looks like a good one but the price is relatively bad (-125) considering that we might see a mistake at the back. We don’t expect many goals, so the under 2,5 goals in the match should be a winning bet (-135).

But why complicate it? Chelsea are too strong right now, they are very consistent and we expect them to fight the EPL title this season. On top of that Arsenal are not a team to back under these circumstances, so we are going for a straight Chelsea win.
