Liverpool’s Perfect Start

Six points in the 1st two rounds, 5 goals netted, 2 clean sheets, Liverpool are enjoying an excellent start to their Premier League campaign. Diogo Jota with his 2nd goal of the season and Sadio Mane helped Liverpool add 3 more points to their season tally beating Burnley 2-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool controlled the entire game, having 67% possession, 27 goal attempts and 9 shots on target. Virgil van Dijk showed once again how important he is for the team. Ruled out in October 2020 after an injury suffered in the Merseyside Derby, van Dijk is back at his best showing with every single game how vital he is for the squad, not only at the back but also for Liverpool’s offensive output. Long passes to Mo Salah and Harvey Elliott, distributing key balls in the middle, brilliant on the aerial balls (set pieces).

The Reds were about to miss on the Champions League spots, but they won their last 5 games of the 2020/21 season and finished 3rd behind City and United. They were also helped by Leicester who dropped 11 points in their last 5 games on the season while Chelsea dropped 6. Their main objective is to lift the Premier League trophy for the 2nd time in 3 years.

Having a full squad at their disposal and a fevered Anfield to push them from the back, Liverpool are favorites to win against Chelsea being priced at +145 with Bet365. The only player unlikely to be part of the squad for this clash is Fabinho, with the Brazilian having missed training last week following the death of his father.

Another player to watch is Trent Alexander-Arnold one of the best incisive players in the English top-flight league, a player with great vision, creativity and superb touch. He’s one of the players in charge with the assists. He’s normally priced at +500 to offer an assist and last season he finished with 7 assists in the Premier League.

Chelsea: Title Contenders

Six points in the 1st two rounds, 5 goals netted, 2 clean sheets… same as Liverpool but in a way, Chelsea look much stronger and very organized. They could be Man City’s biggest challengers for the Premier League title this term. Since taking over back in January, Thomas Tuchel transformed Chelsea into a force to be reckoned with. In the space of just 5 months, Chelsea exploded under Tuchel. They won the Champions League last season, and they now want to lift the EPL title after 5 years.

The German tactician knows how to get the most out of his players, bringing consistency, great defensive organization and huge attacking firepower with Chelsea having a great chance of becoming an elite force once again. On top of that, Chelsea were very busy in the summer transfer window, selling some of their players (Tuchel had 42 players at his disposal in the preseason) in order to have funds and sign last year’s Serie A MVP, Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium striker score the opening goal against Arsenal on his debut.

Chelsea are also waiting for Kurt Zouma to sign with Wes Ham as they’re ready to bid for Jules Koundé from Sevilla, a player with world class potential, in order to complete the deal before the closing of the transfer window.

Liverpool vs. Chelsea Prediction

Two teams managed by world class German managers are facing each other in the most anticipated fixture of the week in the Premier League. Both are in great form and it’s tough to separate them. Roman Abramovich spent a fortune in the last 2 season to bring Chelsea back where they belong while Liverpool won the title 2 years ago and started this season with almost the same squad, which is very important for the project.

When big teams meet so early in the season you normally expect a cagey affair, a tense fixture. It’s very tough to predict the winner as both sides are in great shape, they scored 5 goals each and kept 2 clean sheets. But… when you check the squads and you realize the players you will see on pitch and the attacking firepower, you go for goals. This looks like a 1-1 draw type of game…
