Champions League nights are created for Cristiano Ronaldo. What about the Premier League mornings? The Red Devils host Everton on Saturday just before the international break, and they are eager to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat to Aston Villa.
Manchester United vs. Everton Prediction
Man United: Hot, Cold, and then Hot again… What’s next?
Every single United fan should thank Cristiano Ronaldo for another win. Even without impressing, he scored in the last minute of the game and helped his team win 2-1 against Villarreal in the Champions League matchday 2. Despite this win, the Red Devils looked way too bad in their last two games. The win against Villarreal can’t cover their awful defensive mistakes.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has work to do as his team needs to find consistency. There is no doubt that United’s world-class attacking options makes team selection more difficult, but even with all the quality they have at their disposal, they lack a cutting edge, and in the long term, the lack of chance conversion will haunt them. It’s a long season, and they are desperate for silverware.
Solskjaer must thank De Gea, who kept them in the game during the first 60 minutes, and Edinson Cavani, who only played 15 minutes but was the game changed, bringing his excellent fighting spirit and giving his teammates a lift.
Last weekend, despite dominating the entire game and having 28 goal attempts, United failed to find the back of the net, losing their first match of the Premier League season. They had a great chance to be sole leaders after 6 rounds and take advantage of Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Brentford and Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Man City but once again, failed to convert their chances, also missing from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game.
They enter this clash on the back of three defeats in their previous five games across all competitions, so it’s absolutely normal for Solskjaer to be under pressure because the quality and the squad depth are there, but the high managerial level is missing. For this game, they will be without Harry Maguire and probably Luke Shaw, who’s questionable.
No Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, No Problem
Everton is up there fighting with the sharks. They are sitting 5th in the standings, equal on points with City, Chelsea, and Man United and just 1 point behind leaders Liverpool. They’ve had a whole week to prepare for this tough trip to Old Trafford, but after a superb start to their season under Rafa Benitez, they fancy their chances and will try to pull off an upset.
After back-to-back defeat to Aston Villa in the domestic league and QPR in the EFL Cup, Everton returned to winning ways last weekend, beating bottom of the table Norwich and managing to keep a clean sheet. However, the manager declared that the two defeats were a valuable learning exercise and that the team had plenty of room for improvement.
Many players look way better under their new manager. Demarai Gray has enjoyed some turnaround this season, Andros Townsend is in great shape (4 goals across all competitions), Abdoulaye Doucoure is a beast having an impressing start to the season, being very productive, and playing much forward this term. It is clear that the Toffees enter this clash full of confidence.
Man United vs. Everton Betting Picks
Their last two Premier League head-to-heads were high-scoring affairs (3-3 at Old Trafford and 3-1 for United on the road at Goodison Park). Despite missing their two strikers, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton has all the necessary weapons to find the back of the net at least once. They can surely take advantage of United’s shaky midfield with Fred and McTominay.
We expect a thrilling match with the host trying to keep up with the leading pack and add three more points to their season tally and with Everton knowing they can pull off the upset. We have two plays for this game.
