Liverpool Scoring Goals For Fun

Despite dropping 4 points in 6 games being held to draw games by the newly-promoted team Brentford and Chelsea, Liverpool leads the standings with 14 points earned. They scored 15 goals this season in their domestic league (6 games), 8 goals in the Champions League (2 games), and 3 in the EFL Cup.

Mo Salah is on fire. He netted 8 goals in 8 matches across all competitions breaking record after record. The Egyptian international has become the 30th player to reach 100 goals in the English top-flight league after opening the scoring in Liverpool's fixture against Leeds. Only Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Thierry Henry reached the 100 goals milestone faster than Salah. Last Saturday, in the 3-3 draw against Brentford, he became the fastest Reds' player to reach 100 in the EPL.

Salah's deal with the club expires in 2023, but the club is already negotiating to extend his contract. He's a world-class player, crucial for the team, and given his current form, we can easily say he is in the top 5 players in Europe.

Unfortunately, the hosts will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, which is a massive blow for Jurgen Klopp and company. Based on TAA's key passes so far this term, he's generated 2.4 xA, which places him top of the league. Without dictating play and attacks, the versatile James Milner will replace him at right-back.

Liverpool is unbeaten in all competitions this season, winning seven of their nine matches, but Chelsea was also unbeaten before facing Man City last weekend. The 3-3 draw against Brentford has shown signs of defensive vulnerability, but their attacking masterclass is always there to score more goals.

Man City Struggling Without a Real Striker

Draw, win, win, loss… That's how the Citizens look right now. Surprisingly, City was held to a goalless draw by Southampton two weeks ago, having just one shot or target during the match. Still, they immediately bounced back, destroying Wycombe 6-1 in the EFL Cup and beating Chelsea 1-0 on the road after an excellent performance but with a goal from a deflected shot.

But perspectives change very fast in this sport, and after a superb display against Chelsea, they lost 2-0 at the Parc des Princes with Leo Messi scoring his first goal for Paris Saint-Germain. It was not a bad game for City, but they failed to convert their 17 goal attempts, and that's very worrying. Once again, that tells us they are struggling without a real striker, and let's not forget that they missed on Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola already knows that his boys are unbeatable and unstoppable in front of the net when everything clicks. Given Liverpool's defensive issues, Man City can score at least two goals on their own. It will be fascinating to see how Pep will approach this game and what surprises he will prepare for Klopp.

Liverpool vs. Man City Betting Picks

We are talking about two evenly matched teams, but with the Citizens, favorites to win this clash, priced (+140) at Bet365. At the same time, Liverpool, despite leading the standings, being unbeaten this season, in excellent goal-scoring form, and playing on their turf, is the underdogs priced (+190) at Bet365.

It's very tough to find a betting angle for this clash, so that we will go with the obvious choice. We've seen an average of three-plus goals in the last six head-to-heads. Liverpool has scored at least three goals in their previous six fixtures across all competitions. Both teams are fully packed with world-class players going forward, so we expect goals again.
