Chelsea vs. Tottenham Prediction

Chelsea: Bad form

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Brighton, dropping two more points as part of their dire run. They kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 games, and things are moving quickly towards disaster if something won't change soon. Let's not forget that the Champions League knock-out stages kick off in exactly one month. The good thing is that Chelsea will not play one of the top European teams but given their worrying form, even Lille will cause them massive headaches.

The Blues suffered their fifth draw in seven EPL games against Brighton, failing to maintain a goal lead on three occasions. Even Everton, who is probably the most out of shape team in the league, managed to keep them to a 1-1 draw. Thomas Tuchel declared that they are mentally and physically tired and must recharge their batteries. The international break should be precisely what they need right now, but before that, they host Spurs.

They won eight of their ten fixtures from August until the end of October, scoring 26 goals but have won only four in 13 from November until now. Of course, they have many squad problems which can explain this bad run of form. The absence of Ben Chilwell and Reece James, their starting wing backs, is probably their biggest issue. In addition, their most significant summer transfer, Romelu Lukaku, is out of shape, or the system is not made for him. He netted three goals in his first three EPL games, but he managed to score just two in 12 matches since then. The busy schedule is also part of their bad form as they played 18 games in 60 days.

They have already played Spurs three times this season, winning all three games and keeping three clean sheets in the process (3-0 on the road in the reverse EPL game, 2-0, and 1-0 in the EFL double-header). They are very inconsistent, but it looks like they love playing against Tottenham. With Spurs sitting just eight points behind them with four games in hand, this is a must-win for Chelsea, and Tuchel knows that.

Tottenham: Revived under Conte

Tottenham is looking good to finish in the Premier League top four this season. Antonio Conte's side is on their way up, currently sitting fifth in the table, a point behind West Ham in fourth with three games in hand. Tottenham enters this clash on the back of a dramatic 3-2 win over Leicester. Steven Bergwijn scored twice deep into stoppage time to secure the three points. Antonio Conte's side extended their Premier League unbeaten run to nine games, winning six in the process. They will now be looking to take that momentum into this all-London clash on Sunday.

Despite scoring just five goals this season, Harry Kane remains one of the Premier League's top strikers. However, he must improve his conversion rate because, after Mo Salah with 38, Kane registered the most shots on target this term (25). Furthermore, Tottenham's head-to-head record against Chelsea is terrible. They are winless in their previous 11 mutual encounters across all competitions, losing eight in the process. On top of that, they won just one of their last 31 EPL road games against Chelsea.

Tottenham's superb run of Premier League form will eventually come to an end. Yes, Chelsea looks bad, but the Spurs have struggled massively against the Blues lately. Let's not forget that Chelsea outplayed them in both Carabao Cup games earlier this month. That's why we can't fade Chelsea here. We expect an entertaining game with at least three goals in the match. We have two picks for this one:
