Leeds United vs. Chelsea Prediction

Leeds Needs a Miracle

This week could be decisive in the Premier League relegation battle with Leeds set to play another top team in the league. After two defeats under Jesse Marsch, they are unbeaten in five winning three in the process and they were sitting five points above the drop zone. Unfortunately, they played two top four teams in the last two rounds losing both clashes against Man City and Arsenal.

This encounter could not have come up at a worse time for them. They are sitting 18th in the standings equal on points with the first salvation spot occupied by Burnley. They need to leapfrog them and make sure that they secure at least the 17th position by the end of the campaign, in order to extend their stay in the top flight

Jesse Marsch has managed to work out Leeds’ defensive issues since taking over and stopped them from allowing as many as they conceded under Marcelo Bielsa, and they look a lot more solid under former RB Leipzig coach. Jesse Marsch will have to make it without Adam Forshaw, who suffered a fractured knee cap last week in training.

The midfielder will be out for a significant period. Patrick Bamford’s recovery is going well and he might be available against the Citizens. Luke Ayling is suspended for this clash after being red-carded against Arsenal while Stuart Dallas, Tyler Roberts, and Crysencio Summerville are injured.

At home, Leeds is having a nightmare. They earned just 17 points in 17 home games allowing 34 goals in the process. Only Norwich allowed more goals than Leeds this season in the Premier League. Given their injury crisis from the backline going against the Blues is really going to be a fiery fixture for the Peacocks. They will probably find the back of the net but it will be very tough for them to pull off the upset and win three crucial points.

Chelsea's Internal Issues Are Affecting the Players

Chelsea has lost that great level of stability and consistency. No contract negotiations, no further ticket sales, no merchandise, and the list goes on and it’s unprecedented in the history of the English top-flight league. With ten points dropped in their previous five fixtures, Chelsea is sweating on a top-four finish with the Blues now just one point ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal and five clear of Tottenham.

The Blues dropped all three points to relegation-threatened Everton two rounds ago in probably their worst game across all competitions since the start of the season. On top of that, They failed to maintain a two-goal lead last weekend conceding the equalizer against Wolves in the last minute of the injury time.

It’s unimaginable to think that Chelsea could end the season out of the top four and but given the circumstances, we should take that into consideration. They will play Liverpool in the FA Cup final on Saturday but Tuchel can’t risk resting his key players as this clash is a must-win in order to maintain their top-four hopes alive and in order to build some confidence, which is gold before their most important match of the season. Let’s not forget that the FA Cup is their only chance for silverware.

Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi continue to remain in the recovery room, and Tuchel is expected to consider shuffling his attacking line with either Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech. Jorginho's injury is still unclear, but Tuchel hopes to have N'Golo Kante back in the fold.

Leeds vs. Chelsea Prediction

It’s risky to back Chelsea given their issues on and off the pitch but the difference between the two sides is huge. Chelsea should have enough to win this clash but as they are surrounded by so many problems with many of their players being scared about their future we don’t exactly know if they will be able to return home with the three points.

Given Leeds’ defensive crisis, Chelsea should have enough to score at least two goals on their own but the price for that is untouchable betting related. We expect Leeds to give their best and find the back of the net so we’re going with the Alex Classic for this clash.
