Liverpool: Superb Season

Before attention switches to the Champions League final against Real Madrid, Liverpool’s objective is to beat Wolves on Sunday while also relying on Man City to drop points against Aston Villa at the Etihad. They are just one point behind the leaders while their opponents, Wolves, are sitting eighth in the standings and can drop to ninth but can’t climb higher.

The Premier League scheduled every single team in the league to play its final fixture on the same day at the same time so both Liverpool vs. Wolves and Man City vs. Aston Villa will be played at the same time.

At home, the Reds are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League this season, dropping points in just four of their 18 fixtures in front of their fans. Their counter-press is absolutely outstanding, they are fully packed with world-class players and their winning mentality is top-notch.

It’s pretty crazy that Liverpool finishes their 2021/22 campaign as FA Cup winners, Champions League finalists, winner of the league cup, and at least runner-up in the league. The Carabao Cup and the FA Cup have already been won by Liverpool, both at the expense of Chelsea on penalties at Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp is already preparing for the next season, trying to add some more value to his squad. Liverpool is set to rival Chelsea for the signature of Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt this summer. They are also set to complete the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham after initially missing out on the winger on Deadline Day in January. They are reportedly leading the race to sign Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni but they might also lose players.

First, it was Mohamed Salah, now it is Sadio Mane. Until their contract issues are solved, links with many European giants will continue to dominate the headlines. Jurgen Klopp’s goal for the summer will be to give his squad a much-needed freshening up. The names looking highly likely in leaving Liverpool this summer are Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Taki Minamino, and Divock Origi.

Following an injury to Fabinho suffered against Aston Villa last week, the Reds saw two more of their stars pick up knocks they were forced to replace both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk before the final whistle against Chelsea. They should be fully fit against Real Madrid but we don’t expect them to be forced against Wolves.

Liverpool’s head-to-head record against Wolves is outstanding. They’ve won their previous eight mutual encounters between the two sides, keeping six clean sheets in the process.

Wolves: Nothing To Play For

Winless in their previous six games in a row, losing four games in the process left Wolves scrambling to even make the Europa Conference League with the team sitting eighth in the standings with 51 points, five behind West Ham in seven. Picking up just one point from their last three away games and scoring only two goals in the process also is worrying for a Wolves side that has not been renowned for attacking firepower. Wolves are one of the worst scoring teams on the road this season. At the same time, they allowed just 15 goals in 17 away games being very organized at the back. Nelson Semedo will miss the final game of the season with the thigh injury that he picked up in the early minutes of the second half against Brighton. Romain Saiss and Maximilian Kilman are keeping Semedo company in the recovery room.

Liverpool vs. Wolves Prediction

There’s no value betting on a straight Liverpool win as they enter this clash as heavy favorites being priced at -650 on the three-way moneyline with BetMGM. The spread is set at -2 while the goal line is set at 3.5.

The goal line is set a bit too high. We expect Wolves to have a defensive approach and play for the draw. They won’t count much in the attack so we don’t expect them to find the back of the net. Of course, Liverpool should have enough and win this clash and wait for Aston Villa to play their part. We expect Luis Diaz to deliver once again and find the back of the net but the prices for the ‘anytime goalscorer' market are not up yet, but wait for the official lineup and jump make that call.

Liverpool vs. Wolves Pick

Pick: Liverpool clean sheet at -128 (Bet $128 to win $100)

Liverpool vs. Wolves Prop Pick

Prop: Liverpool to score a penalty at +240 (Bet $100 to win $240)
