Premier League Opening Weekend Parlay (+156): Parlaying Tottenham vs. Southampton, Everton vs. Chelsea

The first week of the Premier League season is upon us. The new season kicks off on Friday and there’s a full slate of exciting games all weekend long. The summer 2022 transfer window for clubs in the EPL will close on September 1st, meaning that most teams aren’t going to be fielding the squads that they’ll have for most of the season. With that said, let’s proceed with our first parlay of the season.

Tottenham vs. Southampton Prediction

All signs are there that this is going to be a good season for Tottenham Hotspur. Antonio Conte has already won the Premier League with Chelsea so he clearly knows what it takes to win trophies. He managed to secure a top-four finish for Tottenham at the expense of rivals Arsenal last season and now his aim will be to push on even further.

It’s safe to say that Tottenham’s recent transfer business is top-notch. They signed Richarlison from Everton and Yves Bissouma from Brighton. Yes, both will miss out on the opening game of the season but Spurs have great attacking firepower. Let’s not forget they have Heung-min Son and Harry Kane in their squad. The duo broke the Premier League record for the most combination goals while Son won his first Golden Boot with 23 goals, making him the first Asian player ever to claim the award

The free signing of Ivan Perisic from Inter is also seen as a big plus. It is also worth noting that Dejan Kulusevski enjoyed a great campaign after arriving on loan from Juventus, scoring five goals and offering eight assists in 18 league fixtures. We don’t expect Spurs to go all the way and lift the trophy but they have the weapons to finish third behind City and Liverpool.

After finishing 15th in each of the last two Premier League seasons, Southampton will hope to kick on under Ralph Hasenhuttl this season. Only three teams allowed more goals last term with the Saints conceding 67 goals. Their season depends on the fitness and form of James Ward-Prowse who was their best scorer and assister last season.

Last week, 19-year-old striker Sekou Mara became Southampton’s sixth signing of the summer following the additions of Gavin Bazunu, Mateusz Lis, Armel Bella Kotchap, Romeo Lavia, and Joe Aribo. They only won one of their five friendly games and we don’t expect them to pull off the upset on Saturday.

Everton vs. Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea is always included in the title conversation at the beginning of every season. The arrival of Romelu Lukaku last season failed to work out as hoped as the Belgium international struggled to find his feet at Chelsea. He’s now back at Inter and Tomas Tuchel trying to find a better striker for this season. Man City’s Raheem Sterling has joined the Blues and could spearhead Chelsea’s title charge. On top of that, they signed the best Serie A defender of last season, Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. No, we don’t expect them to win the title but they look good under their new owner Todd Boehly.

On the other side, Everton is likely to be once again involved in the battle to avoid relegation. Unfortunately for Everton, their stagnant offense has been further deflated after the loss of Richarlison who signed with Tottenham. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to be the focal point of the Toffees' offense this season. The striker will be sidelined for around six weeks and obviously, this is a huge blow for Everton.

Don’t even dare to look at the head-to-head record between the two sides. Yes, Everton only lost two in the previous seven mutual encounters between the two sides, winning four in the process but this is another season and they have many new faces and injury problems.
