Brentford vs. Man United Prediction
Brentford: Decent squad
Brentford kicked off their season Premier League season with a 2-2 draw away to Leicester City. They were able to come back late against Leicester saving a point with Ivan Toney and Josh Dasilva scoring in the final 30 minutes of the match but they looked disjointed in the first half, being dominated by the Foxes and allowing two goals.
Christian Eriksen made his sensational return to football after joining the Bees back in January helping them to retain their EPL spot for another season. The Danish international moved to Monday’s opponents in the summer transfer window but Brentford had a busy summer transfer window spending $50m for Keane Lewis-Potter from Hull City, Aaron Hickey from Bologna, and Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria, talented young players who will definitely add some extra quality to their squad.
Keane Lewis-Potter is one of the players to watch who excites with his potential and ability to contribute goals from out wide but he is yet to win his place in the starting lineup as he’s competing with Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo. Thomas Frank appears to be happy with his squad and the Bees are certainly delighted with him. Aaron Hickey is a modern, dynamic attacking full-back who will fit Brentford’s system well.
Of course, Brentford’s main objective is to secure their spot in the top-flight league and avoid relegation but that doesn’t mean they will not pull off some upsets this season. The 13th place finish from last season was an excellent finish and an improvement this time would require more than $50m. Let’s be honest, they were a bit lucky last weekend against Leicester and they need more of the same to pick up points against a hurt animal like Man United.
Man United: New manager, same problems
Erik ten Hag is looking for his first competitive win as Man United manager. He is asking for perfection, but when you still have players like Maguire, Fred, and McTominay in your starting lineup that’s too much to ask. On top of that, their main scorer Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy with the system implemented by ten Hag so we don’t really know what to expect from the Reds.
The three summer signings Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, and Tyrell Malacia all made their debut last weekend in the disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Brighton but Man United is still trying to sign more deals before the end of the transfer window. They need quality, world-class players but it looks like the European stars are trying to avoid a move to Old Trafford and we don’t blame them.
It’s been a few months since Ronaldo last scored and he missed the entire pre-season campaign trying to move clubs but without success. We expect him to start from the first whistle and have a major impact on the game and even score.
Brentford vs. Man United Betting Picks
We expect a fast reaction from the Red Devils. They dominated the match against Brighton but they failed to capitalize on their chances. Last year they managed to beat Brentford in both games 3-1 on the road and 3-0 in front of their fans.
If Brentford struggled to control the match against Leicester City, they’ll definitely struggle against Manchester United. We don’t expect them to have many chances against the Red Devils with Erik ten Hag determined to correct the defensive mistakes from the season opener. Call me crazy, but I will back an away win at plus money despite the fact that United is a difficult team to back at the moment.
