Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace Prediction
Liverpool: Darwin Nunez Shinning
The Reds lost only two games in the league last season and were twice behind at Craven Cottage. Nunez marked his Premier League debut with a goal and an assist to salvage a point with Mo Salah scoring the equalizer for the Reds.
The host will be now looking for their first win of the season as they welcome a stubborn Crystal Palace. In the draw against Fulham, Liverpool also lost Thiago Alcantara to another injury, which will keep the Spaniard out of action for several weeks. As a consequence, the Reds have seen calls to sign a new midfielder rise exponentially in the last few days.
Alcantara joins Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Caoimhin Kelleher, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, and Ibrahima Konate in the sickroom. Joel Matip has also emerged as a late doubt for the game after missing training with a groin injury but Naby Keita and Kostas Tsimikas are expected to fully recover just in time for this clash.
After coming off the bench against Fulham and Man City and scoring in both games, Darwin Nunez is expected to replace Firmino in the starting lineup. Liverpool looked vulnerable defensively against Fulham but they have a great head-to-head record against Crystal Palace, winning their previous 10 Premier League mutual encounters, and keeping six clean sheets in the process. Mo Salah loves playing against Palace. He netted seven goals and offered four assists in his last 10 games against the Eagles and he is expected to extend his brilliant run of form on Monday.
Crystal Palace: Poor record against the Reds
The 2-0 defeat on the opening day of the season broke a five-game run of clean sheets in front of their fans for the Eagles. They did control 56 percent of possession having many chances to find the back of the net. Patrick Vieira has turned the side into a more forward-thinking club, playing at a faster pace with more short passes.
Unfortunately, they must now travel to play wounded Liverpool and we don’t expect them to return to winning ways. They should have no problem against bottom-half clubs but they will definitely suffer against the big guns. They will come here to play and not park the bus but Liverpool’s attacking firepower and pace will punish them.
Crystal Palace has lost nine of their 13 Premier League matches away from home against Liverpool and they will enter this clash on the back of five consecutive defeats at Anfield.
Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace Betting Picks
Injury issues have been a blow to the Reds early on, but they’re heavy favorites to claim their first win of the season. They can’t afford to drop further points and they are expected to have a fast reaction. Despite missing some good scoring opportunities, Crystal Palace was outplayed by Arsenal last week and they will face a tougher test on Monday.
It’s tough to find an edge here so we will combine two markets for better odds. Mo Salah was on target in the 2-2 draw with Fulham last time out, picking up where he left off after claiming the Premier League Golden Boot award. He loves playing against Palace and we expect him to find the back of the net. Palace has scored in eight of their last 10 away fixtures and they have the weapons to find the back of the net so if you’re brave enough, Liverpool ML & both teams to score at +200 is another potential winning bet.
Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace Pick
Pick: Liverpool ML & Mo Salah to score at +100 (Bet $100 to win $100)
