Chelsea: Crazy Transfer Window

Chelsea has been the most active team on the market in the recently-closed winter transfer window. They’ve spent more than $650 million on new signings. One of their new players, the World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez, became the most expensive player in Chelsea's history, costing almost as much as the total spend of La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A combined.

Todd Boehly, who leads the club's ownership group, is trying to revitalize the squad, but that transfer spree might backfire. They also changed the manager, scouting directors, and recruitment staff. Graham Potter is under a lot of pressure to get his side firing on all cylinders again

Chelsea is currently tenth in the standings, and they have picked up just one win from their last five league matches heading into the clash against Fulham. The Blues will be looking for revenge on the 2-1 defeat to the same rival less than a month ago at Craven Cottage.

The likes of Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Raheem Sterling, and Wesley Fofana have all returned to training recently, but this clash might come too soon for them while Joao Felix is still suspended. N'Golo Kante is getting closer to full fitness, while Denis Zakaria and Christian Pulisic are still out injured. This match could be wild with so many missing players and Todd Boehly’s pure chaos approach.

Should we trust them? Should we back them? No way… We’re not saying they won’t win this match but not at this price. Five of Chelsea’s eight Premier League wins this season have come at home, and they should probably take advantage of Fulham’s poor form and add three more points to their season tally, but with so many new players, backing Chelsea here is risky.

Fulham: Tough nut to crack

Despite failing to find the back of the net in their last two league matches, Fulham has been reliable in front of goal this season, scoring in 17 of their 21 Premier League games. They will be desperate to bounce back strongly and fancy their chances of grinding out a positive.

They are still above their Friday opponents and playing above all expectations this season. Their last win came against the Blues on 13 January. The Cottagers have been a force to be reckoned with aerial balls being just one of the two clubs this season to score double-digit headed goals. One of the biggest beneficiaries has been Aleksandar Mitrovic.

There should therefore be interest in backing the visitors to score, while the Blues' home record this term does not inspire confidence. Fulham’s approach is fairly straightforward and less confusing than Chelsea’s. Fulham has virtually no injury worries coming into the game, with Neeskens Kebano the only current absentee, so they will definitely use their best starting lineup. The arrivals of Sasa Lukic and Cedric Soares will further improve Marco Silva's side.

Chelsea vs. Fulham Betting Picks

Chelsea looked somewhat more organized defensively in the previous two league games, and they have enough weapons to find the back of the net. We don’t know who will play for Chelsea, so we don’t have player props. Instead, we will go with Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic to have at least two shots on target. Fulham is a sturdy side, and we love their fighting spirit. It won’t be a huge surprise if this clash will end in a draw.
