Oscars Predictions: Who Will Win The Big Awards?
This year’s Oscars is full of great films and great acting performances, but the key these days to enjoying the Academy Awards is to make some money on it! Last year for the very first time, legal sportsbooks across the US offered odds on all of the different award categories and this year is no different. As you can see from our Oscars odds grids here a variety of different books are offering odds on markets from Best Picture to Best Song.
We’ve decided to break down all of the major categories below, analyzing the betting odds with our predictions for wagers.
You can place bets on the Oscars with sportsbooks such as DraftKings, Unibet and Bet365. Oscars Picks: Best Picture Predictions
Though the most talked about category year-in, year-out at the Academy Awards, this year’s Best Picture category is a one-horse race. Nomadland is the heavy odds-on favorite, priced up at -670 with DraftKings. These odds imply an 87% probability that it wins and as such the odds are not worth taking unless you’re putting bundles on. This isn’t something we’d recommend on a market like this!
OddsChecker verdict: Nomadland wins, one to include in your parlay.
Oscars Picks: Best Actor Predictions
Talking on one-horse races, it doesn’t get more competitive in the Best Actor race, in fact … the opposite. Chadwick Boseman will win and everyone is aligned on that. That includes the sportsbooks who offer odds of -1600 on the Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom star winning Best Actor posthumously. -1600 odds are a 94.1% probability of success.
OddsChecker Verdict: Include Chadwick Boseman in your parlay with Nomadland!
Oscars Picks: Best Actress Predictions
Finally a more interesting betting heat! The Best Actress award could go to just about any of the nominees. The other Award nights haven’t revealed a definitive favorite here at all, so we’re left guessing who will come out on top. We really like the chances of current second favorite Viola Davis and the odds of +200 (2/1) look very fair. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom was a powerful movie and Davis’ larger-than-life performance as Ma Rainey gained serious acclaim throughout the awards season and we like the look of both of the movie’s stars taking home the Best Actor and Actress gongs.
OddsChecker verdict: Back Viola Davis at +200
Oscars Picks: Best Director Predictions
It would be a major shock if Chloe Zhao didn’t win this one for directing Nomadland. The odds of -2500 aren’t giving much away.
OddsChecker Verdict: Chloe Zhao is another one for your parlay.
Oscars Picks: Best Supporting Actor Predictions
British actor Daniel Kaluuya has taken Hollywood by storm in the past couple of years. He starred in Black Panther and Queen & Slim before this year’s breakout role playing Chairman Fred Hampton in Judas And The Black Messiah propelled him into the limelight. Many are predicting he’ll win the Best Supporting Actor prize with ease and we can’t disagree.
OddsChecker verdict: Load up the parlay with Daniel Kaluuya
Oscars Picks: Best Supporting Actress Predictions
Youn Yuh-Jung is the strong favorite here, but we can't see Borat going home empty-handed by the Academy (you just know they loved the contents of this movie!) and it's time to chance Maria Bakalova, who received a lot of praise for her role alongside Sacha Baron Cohen and her odds of +375 looks good. A $10 wager at odds of +375 would return $47.50.
OddsChecker verdict: Back Maria Bakalova at +375
