Here's our picks for day six of Wimbledon 2019
ANALYSIS

Saturday promises to be another blockbuster day at Wimbledon. Roger Federer will be back on court to resume his quest for an eighth men’s singles title, with home hope Johanna Konta set to take on Sloane Stephens in what will arguably be the most anticipated match of the day. Here are three tips for Saturday’s third round action at The Championships.

Lucas Pouille v Roger Federer

Wimbledon men’s singles third round, Saturday July 5

There’s something that just seems right about the sight of Roger Federer on the grass courts of SW19. Indeed, even at the age of 37 the Swiss is most comfortable at Wimbledon and has the look of a genuine contender after sailing through his opening two rounds in the first week. This could be a tough match for Federer, though.

Lucas Pouille has enjoyed a strong season, making the semi finals of the Australian Open at the start of the year. The Frenchman also has a decent record at Wimbledon, making the quarter finals as recently as 2016. But Federer’s serving in the third round against Jay Clarke (he hit 10 aces) was so strong it’s difficult to imagine as good a returner as Pouille having much joy.

0.75u - Back Four Sets @ +270

Sloane Stephens v Johanna Konta

Wimbledon women’s singles third round, Saturday July 5

This promises to be one of the most compelling ties of the women’s third round. Sloane Stephens comes into this match on the back of a straight sets win over Yafan Wang that took just 14 games to decide. Johanna Konta was also impressive in her straight sets victory over Katerina Siniakova in the previous round.

The British number one didn’t even face a single break point against Siniakova, winning an impressive 79% of her first serve points and a massive 75% of second serve points. Konta has won all three of her previous meetings with Stephens. This clash between two top 20 players could produce fireworks, but Konta looks to be the slight favourite.

1u - Back Johanna Konta To Win @ -190

Sam Querrey v John Millman

Wimbledon men’s singles third round, Saturday July 5

As predicted, Sam Querrey coasted through his second round match against Andrey Rublev, winning in straight sets. The American tends to find his best form on grass and that looks to be the case once again this year with this match-up presenting him with the opportunity to make the Wimbledon fourth round for the second time in his career.

John Millman comes into this match on the back of his own straight sets victory in which he won 75% of his first set points. However, he won just 56% of his second set points and this is where Querrey could make inroads. The American has won the two previous meetings and should make it three from three here.

2.5u - Back Sam Querrey To Win @ -440
