Wimbledon Picks Wednesday 07/10
It’s quarter finals day in the men’s singles at Wimbledon and there are a number of compelling matches to look forward. The Big Three - Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal - will all be in action. Can anyone topple them to make the final four? Here are four tips for Wednesday at SW19.
Guido Pella v Roberto Bautista-Agut
Wimbledon men’s singles quarter finals, Wednesday July 10
Of all the big names still in the men’s singles at this point, it is somewhat surprising that Roberto Bautista-Agut is the only player who has yet to drop a single set in the four matches he has played so far. The Spaniard has been in exceptional form, seeing off Benoit Paire in the previous round. His receiving was most impressive, winning 45% of his return points.
On the other hand, Guido Pella had to fight back from two sets down to see off Milos Raonic in the fourth round. This will be the third time that the two players have faced each other, with Bautista-Agut winning both times. Pella has shown great fight to get to this stage of the tournament, but Bautista-Agut has demonstrated much greater control in his performances.

The King of Wimbledon is on course for yet another date with destiny. Roger Federer already has eight titles at SW19 and on the basis of his form over the past week or so you wouldn’t bet against him making it nine. Indeed, the Swiss has been very impressive. However, in Kei Nishikori he will face his first real test of the tournament so far.
The Japanese is a seasoned veteran of the latter stages of Grand Slams, making the quarter finals at each of his last five majors. Federer won 86% of his break point opportunities against Matteo Berrettini and lost just five games in the entire match. The great man already has a title on grass this season (at Halle) and will surely be too strong for Nishikori here. This could be the match of the quarter finals, though.

David Goffin has been around the block a few times, but this is the first time that he has ever made it to the quarter finals of Wimbledon. The Belgian will experience just how tough it is at this level, though, with Novak Djokovic lying in wait. The world number one has looked like the player to beat at this year’s Championships, winning 10 of his last 11 Grand Slam victories in straight sets.
These two players have faced each other seven times before with Djokovic winning five of those matches. Goffin has previously beaten the Serbian on grass, but that was only in a 2016 exhibition. Goffin has been in good form of late and has 15 wins over top 10 players in his career, but it’s difficult to look past Djokovic for this one.

Grass is often where Sam Querrey finds his best form and so it has been the case again at this year's Wimbledon. Of course, the American is a former semi-finalist at SW19, but now finds Rafael Nadal between him and reaching that stage for a second time. Querrey has only been broken once in his last three matches. Nadal will provide a much tougher test.
The world number two and number three seed has only dropped one set over the course of the entire tournament so far. However, Querrey won the most recent meeting between the two players back in 2017 in Acapulco. This is their first meeting on grass, though. This should be a competitive match.
