Friday's US Open Picks: Daniil Medvedev vs. Dominic Thiem
We had another split with our bets yesterday, going 1-1. It was looking like a 2-0 kind of day with Brady winning a set against Osaka in the first matchup and then Serena with a dominating first set win over Azarenka 6-1. However, Serena lost all momentum and lost the next two sets 6-3 to lose the match. I thought Serena was a lock after seeing her win that first set, but I was wrong. Lets look into the semi-finals for the Men’s today.
Pablo Carreno-Busta vs. Alexander Zverev: Zverev -2.5 sets @ +205
I think Zverev is a far better tennis player than Carreno-Busta and should have a legitimate chance of winning this match 3 sets to 0. I would suggest betting a smaller amount here just because the odds are double in your favor. If Zverev wins the first set, I see Carreno-Busta feeling the pressure right away, and should struggle as a pretty decent underdog in this semi-final matchup. You would be betting $10 to make $20.50, or $100 to make $205.
Dominic Thiem vs. Daniil Medvedev: Thiem @ -105
This is the far more interesting matchup of the two today. We should see outstanding back and forth action between these two superstars. Since the beginning, Iv’e had Thiem as a winner in this tournament and ever since Djokovic got DQ’d, I’ve been all over him. Thiem sees a path to glory here, while not having to face the best player in the world in order to raise that trophy. Sure, Medvedev is an outstanding player, but I give the edge to Thiem here. I wouldn’t be surprised if this match ends in a score of 3 sets to 2.
