French Open 2021 Predictions & Picks

This tournament is now at the point where are going to only see a few matches a day total. We have just 4 total matches between the men’s and women’s on Tuesday, 2 for each. In this write up, I’m going to get into spread betting a little bit so we can have better odds in these matchups.

Usually I just suggest who to bet on straight up to win the match. With spread betting, the underdog receives extra games and the favorite gives extra games to make it more of a 50/50 wager. I’ll get more into this with my picks for Day 10

Alexander Zverev vs. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Prediction

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina +7.5 @ -110

Fokina is pretty big underdog in this match against Alexander Zverev. While I do think Zverev will win this match, I like the amount of games that Vegas is giving Fokina. +7.5 games means he can lose to Zverev by a total of 7 games or less and we will win the bet. For example, if he loses in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, and 6-3, we would still win the bet because he lost by a total of 7 games. The reasoning for this spread betting of games in tennis is to make a wager between a lopsided favorite and his opponent more fair. Fokina has been in great form and should be able to put up some sort of a fight against Zverev on Tuesday.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Daniil Medvedev Prediction

Daniel Medvedev +4.5 @ -120

This matchup between Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas may be the most intriguing matchup we will see so far in this tournament.  These guys are both absolute studs and should be able to put on quite an entertaining match. Medvedev is surprisingly a pretty decent underdog, where I think he might actually win this matchup. We will take the +4.5 games here without a question. If you want an even better bang for your buck, you can bet him to win at that +180 number as well. It’s also worth noting that Medvedev has won 6 out of the 7 matches these two have competed in head to head.

Elena Rybakina vs. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Prediction

Elena Rybakina @ -150

I like Rybakina in this matchup against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Rybakina outranks her by 10 spots on the WTA rankings (22 vs 32) and in my opinion, is just an all around better player. If you want the odds a bit more in your favor, you can also bet Rybakina at -2 for the spread to bring the odds down to -120.
