Nick Kyrgios vs. Marcos Giron Prediction

When: Tuesday, August 2

Start Time: 7:00 pm ET

Nick Kyrgios vs. Marcos Giron Odds

Nick Kyrgios used the Citi Open in 2019 to jumpstart a successful season when he beat two current top-five players, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, in what was his second ATP title. Kyrgios withdrew from last week’s Atlanta Open with a left knee injury but appears healthy enough to give it a go this week in preparation for the U.S. Open.

Kyrgios faces American Marcos Giron, who is 0-5 in his last five ATP main draw matches in the United States. Not only has Giron lost those five matches, but he has also failed to cover the game spread in any of those matches and is just 13-17 overall against the spread this season.

Kyrgios will have a bit of rust to kick off after not playing any events since Wimbledon, but is 17-7-3 against the spread this year and has too much power for the inferior Giron in this match.

David Goffin vs. Jack Sock Prediction

When: Tuesday, August 2

Start Time: 2:30 pm ET

Jack Sock’s first-round match last week at the Atlanta Open against Tommy Paul was billed as one of the most anticipated matches of the event but did not play out as so, as Paul cruised easily 6-1, 6-1. Sock gets a shot at redemption against David Goffin, who was nearly a semifinalist at Wimbledon (his last event played) but was ousted in five sets by Cameron Norrie.

Goffin has played an average of 21.7 games in his three-set matches this year, while Sock’s average is 22.9. Thus, there is not a lot of value on betting the over/under number of games unless you were convinced this match goes to three sets.

However, we see value in Sock’s moneyline odds, given his serving numbers on hard courts compared to Goffin. Sock has won 78.3% of his service games and 16.5% of his return games on hard court, while Goffin has won just 66.7% of his service games and 22.6% of his return games on the surface. Goffin has also lost six of his last seven ATP main draw matches in the United States, making Sock a live underdog in this match.
