Casper Ruud faces many disadvantages in today’s match against Felix Auger-Aliassime, one of which is how fresher the Canadian’s legs will be after yesterday’s matches. This is the first-ever meeting between the veteran Daniel Evans and Tommy Paul, which is important given Evans’ unique style. Paul is undoubtedly the more powerful and aggressive player in this match, which is usually a good recipe for winning on hard court. However, Evans is adept at counterpunching and using opponents’ aggressiveness against them, which is not something we expect the young 25-year-old Paul to handle well.
Evans beautifully neutralized the power of fellow American Taylor Fritz in the last round, his second straight tournament beating him.
