ATP Cincinnati Finals Predictions and Odds: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Borna Coric
Today’s finalists at the ATP Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati won outright as underdogs in their semifinal matches. As a result, they can cash in huge paydays for bettors that may have backed their pre-tournament odds. Borna Coric vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction
Borna Coric’s run at Cincinnati continues to be one of the best stories in men’s tennis this year. Shoulder surgery has limited his time on court drastically, as this match is just his 27th since the start of 2021. However, one would never know that with how Coric has played to this point, as he looks in peak form in getting to the finals here. He was already the second-lowest ranked player ever to make the semifinals at Cincinnati (No. 152) and is now in search of his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 title, four years after making his first final. This is his first on hard court, however.
Coric surprisingly dispatched Cameron Norrie easily 6-3, 6-4 in just over 90 minutes, despite only landing 45% of his first serves. However, a rain delay that interrupted the match may have caused some distraction, as Coric still won 80% of those first-serve points. We expect a much more tidy performance today like the one he had against Stefanos Tsitsipas, where he made 66% of his first serves and won a whopping 94% of those points.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Coric have split their two head-to-head meetings, but Coric won their only matchup on hard court, a thrilling five-set match at the 2020 U.S. Open. Tsitsipas is a worthy favorite, given he has been the much more consistent (and healthy) player over the last several years. However, even though this is the Greek’s fifth ATP Masters 1000 final, it is just his second on hard court, and he has not won a title on this surface at this level yet in his career.
Tsitsipas is 10-1 in his last 11 ATP main draw matches against older opponents. But Coric has covered the game spread in seven consecutive ATP main draw matches in the United States.
Coric has dropped just one set this tournament (to Rafael Nadal), and we like his fairytale story to culminate with a championship today in what should be a thrilling match.
