Viktoriya Tomova vs Anna Schmiedlova Prediction

Viktoriya Tomova has been playing nonstop 3 set matches. But if you look at the women she has been beating, you'd be even more impressed.

Tomova took out Jasmine Paolini and Julie Grabher in the first two rounds. Those are two very impressive wins to put on her resume. The one thing that concerns me is that they were long, grueling matches. That said, this has been her best surface her whole career. She loves to play on the red clay.

Tomova will face off with Anna Schmiedlova in the quarterfinals of the Budapest tournament. Schmiedlova has had a very up and down year. Recently, she simply hasn't played her best tennis. Yes, she dominated her first two opponents in this tournament, but those players weren't known for clay court success. This will be, by far, Schmiedlova's toughest match of the tournament. Tomova has looked very sharp, and she has shown that she loves playing in Budapest. Tomova is known for being a great clay court player and this is the matchup I could really see her taking advantage of.

One thing that Schmiedlova has lacked this year is consistency. At one point this season she lost eight straight matches without even winning a set. She has found some wins lately at the challenger level, but when she faces a step up in competition, she has been defeated. Additionally, most of Schmidelova's loses in that long win streak was on clay. This isn't her favorite surface to play. That's another reason I really like Tomova in this matchup.

I fully expect Tomova to use her clay court success to her advantage here. She strives on this surface and has shown that no matter what the score is she never out of the match. Tomova is the kind of player I like to back. The main reason is that she won't quit on us. In both of her first two matches she lost a set and then came back and dominated the match. This is a line I fell in love with right when I saw it.

I expect Tomova to dominate everywhere this match and wouldn't be surprised to see her take this in straight sets. But we are riding her moneyline for a nice wake and cash!
