Mayar Sherif has shown over and over that clay court is her favorite surface. She has looked very good this tournament so far. Winning both of her matches in straight sets. She looked very impressive. Her serve has been almost unhittable and when she is in a groove like this it's hard to beat her. She is the kind of player who she is confident it's going to take a lot to knock her off. She faces off with Lauren Davis who just had a grueling 3-set match with Sara Sorribes Tormo. That was a good win for Davis, but it really took a lot of her.

This is a perfect matchup for Sherif in my opinion. She comes into this match as the fresher player and is playing overall better tennis. These two have only played once before, but that was in Mexico on hard court. This is Sherif's favorite surface by far. She is also the first female Egyptian on tour and has improved a lot over the past year. Last year around this time she really went on a good run late in the season. She is shaping up to do the same thing this season. The reason I really favor Sherif in this match is that she really capitalizes well on the player's second serve. She has a very good first serve too and uses it to her advantage.

This matchup will be a good one in my opinion. But the thing that really stands out to me is that fatigue will play a major role in this matchup. Sherif is very fresh off an easy straight-set win, while Davis just had to play a brutal marathon match that lasted over 3 hours. This is also the first match of the day. So, the recovery time for Davis is very short. I really expect Sherif to win some long rallies early and get Davis on the move and convert.
