College Basketball Betting Odds, Lines & Spreads

Throughout the NCAAB regular season, 357 schools will compete in 32 conferences in order to see who will advance to the playoffs. However, any college basketball fan knows the playoffs as March Madness. Though the 68 teams that advance to the playoffs receive a lot of attention from sportsbooks and bettors, NCAAB odds are offered throughout the season. From point spreads to totals bets, OddsChecker’s handy comparison grids connect fans and pundits alike to a variety of popular bets. There, users have the option of comparingcollege basketball odds and lines offered by eleven popular, trusted sportsbooks before placing their wager.

OddsChecker’s expert handicappers also offer insightful picks for all basketball leagues that help punters understand how odds and handicaps are created for different teams and matchups.

College basketball odds are given for moneyline, futures, totals, and prop bets. In moneyline bets, an underdog and favorite are named. In futures, totals, and prop bets, odds are given as a single number with a plus (+) sign in front. Moneyline odds are written with either a plus (+) or a minus (-) sign to indicate if the team is the favorite or the underdog. The favorite is written with a minus (-) and the underdog with a plus (+). In American betting, odds are written in terms of a $100 bet. Betting on the underdog shows what a bettor stands to win if they wager $100. Betting on the favorite shows what a bettor has to wager in order to win $100.

Let’s take a look at an example. NCAA basketball odds are written as:

Gonzaga Bulldogs -300

Kentucky Wildcats +240

In this example, the Bulldogs are the -300 favorite. This means that a $300 bet on Gonzaga will payout $100. The Wildcats are the +240 underdog. A $100 bet placed on the Wildcats would earn a bettor $240. Betting on NCAAB odds with $100 isn’t necessary. Bettors can wager smaller amounts if they choose. A $50 bet placed on the Wildcats would payout $140. A $10 bet on the Wildcats would payout $24. NCAAB moneyline odds can also be written in terms of percentages. For example, the -300 favorite Gonzaga Bulldogs have a 75% chance of winning.

College basketball lines are created for college basketball point spread bets. Unlike the moneyline bet, a point spread bet includes a handicap for the underdog team. In order to create this handicap, sportsbooks closely examine a team and conference in order to create their college basketball betting lines. Sportsbooks closely analyze details like a team’s record, staffing capabilities, recent recruits, player injuries, homefield advantage, and a variety of other circumstances. After close analysis, oddsmakers predict which team will win, and by how many points, before releasing NCAA basketball lines.

At OddsChecker, users can easily compare competitive college basketball lines offered by eleven different companies. Each sportsbook is thoroughly vetted so that every wager is informed and secure.

Currently, March Madness odds and NCAAB Championship odds are offered by a variety of sportsbooks. March Madness is one of the hottest betting times of the year in the US, but no game is as hotly contested as the Championship game. At the moment, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Baylor Bears, and Villanova Wildcats are favorites to take the NCAAB Championship. However, there’s still a lot of time before the final faceoff occurs. Sportsbooks will continue to update their odds throughout the season.

Current NCAAB Championship odds are:

Gonzaga Bulldogs +800

Baylor Bears +800

Villanova Wildcats +900

Kentucky Wildcats +1100

Creighton Bluejays +1100

Duke Blue Devils+1400

Florida State Seminoles +1500

These odds are considered part of a ‘futures bet’. Keep reading below to learn more about the various wagers offered on NCAAB basketball odds and lines, as well as how each pays out.

Moneyline, point spread, futures, totals, and prop bets are the most popular ways to get in on the action. In addition, ‘parlays’ are also common.

Parlay betting attaches multiple bets, which means a punter stands to win big if they can accurately predict multiple outcomes. However, a parlay only pays out if each leg of the bet is won.

Moneyline betting: Moneyline bets are win-loss wagers. They’re also known as straight-up bets because there are no additional conditions attached. The chosen team either wins or loses.

Point spread betting: Point spread bets involve reading and wagering on college basketball betting lines. Rather than focusing on predicting the winner, point spread betting involves giving a handicap to the underdog, which is represented by a number (or ‘point’).Point spread betting involves in-depth analysis of stats that determine the spread, or the points given to each team.

Futures betting: Futures bets are placed on the outcome of a future event, like the NCAAB Championship. Futures bets can also be placed on divisional or conference championship matches.

Over/under & Totals betting: Over/under and Totals betting signify the exact same wager. These bets are placed on the total score at the end of a match. Totals are tallied by adding the score from both teams. Punters win a bet by accurately predicting whether the total score of a game will be over or under the number provided by sportsbooks.

Prop betting: Proposition (or ‘prop’) bets determine anything aside from the outcome of a game. In the NCAAB, popular prop bets include how many points an individual player will score or how many steals a player can make in a game.

First & Second-Half lines: These lines are similar to point spread bets, only applied for a specific time slot within a game. Punters can bet the spread on the first or second half of a game to determine which team will be winning and by how many points.

OddsChecker offers the latest and most reliable March Madness odds. We connect you to eleven trusted sportsbooks that offer odds on the tournament. In fact, many sportsbooks offer March Madness odds as soon as the tournament concludes from the previous season. Punters can wager onNCAAB futures events at any point in time. Keep in mind that these odds are updated throughout the season. Sportsbooks pay close attention to factors like player injuries, staff changes, and team dynamic as they update their college basketball odds.

Some punters take advantage of competitive deals by wagering early on in the season, or before it’s even started. Other punters choose to wait until March Madness nears in order to take advantage of the most updated information. OddsChecker also utilizes expert handicappers. These handicappers closely examine season play to put forth their picks for futures events. Check out ourMarch Madness Picks & Parlays page to see what these passionate analysts forecast for the upcoming season. Currently, March Madness odds favor Gonzaga, Virginia, and Villanova for the 2021 NCAAB Championship title. However, experts studying projected brackets for the tournament have a few other favorites in mind: Kansas, Baylor, Dayton, and Gonzaga.

In addition to the top three favorites and possible movement within the brackets, experts have their eye on five new teams that are coming into the 2020 season with new recruits and developing players. These include: Alabama, Seton Hall, North Carolina State, Georgia State, and Stephen F. Austin University.

Each sportsbook offers their own NCAA basketball lines and odds that are based off expert analysis. Every sportsbook offers their own odds, as well as competitive deals. However, not all companies stack up. OddsChecker connects you to eleven trusted sportsbooks that offer updated NCAA basketball odds and lines across a variety of bets. Our easy-to-read grids allow users to compare odds offered by each sportsbook in order to choose the option that’s best for them.

Prior to a 2018 Supreme Court ruling that legalized sports betting in the US, Nevada was the home of legal sportsbooks. Since the 2018 ruling, more and more states have begun to regulate sports betting, especially in an online format. In the past, Las Vegas odds were the staple of American sports betting. However, this isn’t the case anymore. Now, sites like OddsChecker connect fans to a variety of sportsbooks in a one-stop-shop comparison grid. College basketball ‘Vegas Odds’ simply refer to odds put forth by sportsbooks that made their name in Vegas. Vegas Odds are often written as ‘3to1’ odds. This means there are three chances to win and one chance to lose, which signifies a 75% chance of winning.
