Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can We Trust Brock Purdy's Health on TNF?

The San Francisco 49ers didn't miss a beat last week with Brock Purdy under center. The former Mr. Irrelvent selection in this year's NFL Draft helped the Niners defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 35-7. That win gave the Niners six straight wins on the season.

However, the Niners are currently awaiting injury reports on Purdy and Deebo Samuel. Samuel was carted off the field with a lower leg injury. But reports state that the Niners believe he might've escaped the worst. Meanwhile, Purdy has an oblique strain and with the 49ers having a quick turnaround on Thursday, his availability is now in question.

The 49ers have lost Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo for the regular season. Now Purdy could be the third quarterback injured for the 49ers. If he's unavailable, Josh Johnson would be next in line to start against the Seahawks.

On the other hand, the Seahawks have lost three of their last four games and are watching their playoff hopes dwindle day by day. What should we expect on Thursday?

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Thursday's game between the Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers.

Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction

The Seattle Seahawks have lost three of their last four games. But all three of those games were by one possession. Seattle was earning those types of victories earlier this season. But what goes around comes back around. Seattle has scored 26.4 points per game while earning over 375 yards of offense per game. That's usually enough to win most games. However, the defense has given up 25.7 points per game and nearly 400 yards of offense.

It's been a terrific year for Geno Smith, who has thrown 25 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. He's found Tyler Lockett 71 times for under 900 yards and eight touchdowns. DK Metcalf has also been a significant contributor to this offense in the receiving game. Kenneth Walker has been the running back for the Seahawks. Except for last week. He was out with an ankle injury but has the potential to return this week, even on a shortened week. Although, I wouldn't plan on it for you fantasy owners thinking about playing him.

On the other hand, it's unclear if Brock Purdy will be able to play on Thursday. Deebo Samuel also got hurt and likely won't play Thursday with an ankle injury. But if Purdy can't start at quarterback, the 49ers would be left with Josh Johnson under center. Johnson is a veteran that has played for many seasons. But I think the 49ers would be better off finding a younger player to take over. Johnson doesn't really have much in him anymore, and they've already developed Brock Purdy, a player no other team wanted.

However, I'll admit this. The 49ers are probably good with any quarterback. The offense runs smoothly, and they've got so many weapons. Samuel won't be around, and Elijah Mitchell is still healing up. But the 49ers never run out of playmakers on that roster. The 49ers should be able to hold Seattle below its season average of 26.3 on defense. After all, the 49ers have allowed just 15.2 points per game.

But you can overlook rivalry matchups on primetime. These games are usually closer, and if Johnson is under center, the 49ers might struggle to score themselves, even with Christian McCaffrey still around. With that said, I'm taking the Under 43.5. Purdy's injury sounds worse than the media lets on, and we know just how good the 49ers are on defense.
