Sporting Life Preview

Three-year-olds have more than held their own in this Group 3 down the years and MOVE UP can strike another blow for the Classic generation. The Godolphin colt found a weak Group 2 in Turkey last month but has clearly improved for the step up to 1m4f and has scope for further improvement after just seven career starts. Sir Michael Stoute's pair Kings Fete and Arab Spring look closely matched and should be thereabouts but Western Hymn has squandered easier chances than this and finds little when push comes to shove. French import Sumbal could figure eased in grade but this may prove too hot for Duretto and Star Storm.

Oddschecker Verdict

Considering Sir Michael Stoute's record with middle-distance propositions, it is surprising that he hasn't won this contest since 2007 when Ask triumphed but this year he looks to have two excellent chances with Arab Spring, a talented but fragile individual who got back on track at Kempton last time, and KINGS FETE, who has returned from injury with a vengeance having won two Group 3 contests already this season. Preference goes to the latter who is tactically versatile and should appreciate a bit more ease in the ground compared to Newbury last time. Move Up is a fascinating contender having won a Group 2 in Turkey last time and looks highly progressive, while Western Hymn should run his usual solid race at this level.

Prediction: 1st Kings Fete, 2nd Move Up, 3rd Arab Spring
