Democrat Abdul El-Sayed is the favorite to win Michigan's 2026 Senate race. Kalshi priced El-Sayed at 70% and Republican Mike Rogers at 30% after their final debate on October 21. The seat is open and currently held by Democrats, which makes Michigan the race Democrats can least afford to lose in their push for the Senate.

How the Michigan odds have moved
This market has swung more than most. El-Sayed briefly hit 74% on Kalshi on October 6 after a rally with Barack Obama, then dropped to 67% after the first debate in early October. He climbed back to 69% by mid-October and edged up to 70% after the final debate in Detroit.
The candidates
Abdul El-Sayed (D) is the former Wayne County health director. He won a close Democratic primary on August 4 with 48.5% of the vote, after Rep. Haley Stevens stayed in the race and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow withdrew in July.
Mike Rogers (R) is a former congressman making his second run for the Senate.
What the polls say
The polls are close. A Marist poll released on October 21 had El-Sayed ahead 50% to 48% among likely voters, inside the margin of error. Other October surveys ranged from a two-point to a six-point El-Sayed lead. The market's 79% reflects that steady advantage.
Why Michigan matters
Democrats need a net gain of four seats to win the Senate, so every Democratic seat they lose raises the bar. Michigan is one of two Democratic-held seats in states President Trump won in 2024, and Republicans haven't won a Senate race there since 1994. It's also become the most expensive Senate race in the state's history. See the full picture on our US politics odds page.
