Step 2: Pick your market
Ohio has more ways to trade than most races:
- Ohio Senate winner: Brown or Husted.
- Margin of victory: Polymarket lists a margin market, so you can trade on how close the race will be.
- County markets: Polymarket even lists who wins Mahoning County, a former Democratic stronghold that has swung right.
- Combined markets: Kalshi lists a market on the Senate and governor results together, and Polymarket has Senate combos that include Ohio.
Step 3: Work out your payout
Your trade | Cost for 100 contracts | Return if right | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
Brown at 73¢ | $73 | $98.92 | $25.92 |
Husted at 28¢ | $28 | $97.12 | $69.12 |
Step 4: Place your order
Choose Yes or No and set your quantity. Buy at the current price, or set a limit order if you want a better entry and don't mind waiting for it to fill.
Step 5: Follow election night
Ohio is a large state with plenty of early votes to count, with nearly 1.7 million ballots already cast heading into Election Day. Because those early votes are tabulated and reported first on election night, market prices can move quickly as the initial numbers arrive. You can sell before settlement if you want to lock in a gain.
What to weigh before trading Ohio
- For Brown: he leads Kalshi's polling average 47.9% to 44.3% and has raised far more money than Husted.
- For Husted: outside groups have spent about twice as much supporting him, Ohio has trended Republican, and Brown lost his seat in 2024.
- Prices differ: compare Kalshi and Polymarket, and check our US politics odds page before you buy.
