Man Utd target Bruno Fernandes to STAY at Sporting? Odds slashed from 10/1 to 5/4

Punters continue to back United move as they drift out to the same price in the market.

Bookmakers have cut odds on Bruno Fernandes staying at Sporting Lisbon from 10/1 to 5/4, having been as short as 1/5 to complete a transfer to Manchester united just over a week ago.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer, but some of the market now suggests the possibility of the transfer is slipping away.

Despite this, punters are still piling onto the move to Manchester going ahead, with 46% of bets in the last 24 hours going on United.

This comes as Harry Maguire is officially unveiled as a Manchester United player, with Thursday’s deadline day also looming.

Fernandes boasts an incredible record in Portugal’s Liga NOS, bagging 20 goals and 13 assists for Sporting last season.

The midfielder captained his side in last night’s Portuguese Super Cup final, a humiliating 5-0 defeat to bitter rivals Benfica.

After he was spotted in tears following the final whistle, many jumped to the conclusion that this was an emotional farewell, but it seems some bookies are preparing for the opposite.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Having just splashed £80m on Harry Maguire and £50m on Wan-Bissaka, it would be surprising to see Manchester United break the bank again before Thursday.

“Bruno Fernandes was as short as 1/5 to move to United just over a week ago, an implied probability of 83.3%, but that level of certainty is long gone.”
