The American has been receiving a lot of attention in the betting...
The PGA Tour is back this week after a three-month hiatus and a seriously good field line-up in Texas at the famous Colonial Country Club. With the exception of Tiger Woods, the world’s best make up the field and as you can expect, it’s a tight betting heat.
Rory McIlroy is the favourite at 8/1 with the likes of Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka all in the mix in golf’s big return. The big question is just how the world’s elite will cope with the enforced absence? Who will be ready to roll? And who will be a little rusty?
Bettors have decided that the break could have done three-time major champion Jordan Spieth the world of good and he’s been the second-most backed player with oddschecker since the markets opened. The best odds available now are 45/1 (£10 bet would return £460).
Spieth has struggled with his game in the last couple of years and perhaps an enforced break will have revitalised the major winner.
While things haven't clicked for him elsewhere recently, Spieth's record at Colonial is pretty staggering. In his seven starts at the course, he's had one win (2016), two runner-up finishes and two more top 10s. On top of that, 21 of his 28 rounds there have been in the 60s.
Check out our Tipster Niall Lyons’ picks for this week, he fancies a big-hitting American to defy generous odds at a course he’s played well at before.
