Italy vs Iceland 

Italy started their Euros campaign off poorly with a heavy 5-1 loss to France at the New York Stadium on Sunday. They were 5-0 down by half-time and scored a late consolation goal as their hope of matching the men’s Euro 2020 result started to fade away. Coming into the tournament they were in fair form, with a good draw against tournament favourites Spain in a warm up match, reaching the Algarve Cup final and finishing top of their World Cup qualification group after winning seven of their eight games.  

Iceland had to settle for a draw against Belgium on Sunday after taking the lead in the 50th minute and conceding a penalty. They came into the tournament in good form, winning their warm up game comfortably and finishing runners up to the Netherlands in World Cup qualifying after winning five of their six games. Both Italy and Iceland will be hoping they can better their last Euros result where they both finished bottom of their group. 

Riga FC vs Derry City 

With eight games left in their season, Riga are nine points behind leaders Valmieras and come into this fixture having won two of their last five games. They got the better over Derry City when the two sides met earlier this month, winning 2-0 away from home after taking advantage of a red card shown to Matty Smith. The Latvian side come into this game with an advantage but are in poor form at home after losing their last two previous games. 

Derry City come into this fixture sitting only one point behind second place Dundalk in the league and in decent form after winning three of their last five. They will be hoping for a better result this time round after a disappointing home fixture and will look to capitalise on Riga’s poor home form. 

France vs Belgium 

After demolishing Italy 5-1 at weekend, France come into this game looking to build Momentum. They were in excellent from as they hit five before the half at the New York Stadium on Sunday, with Grace Geyoro scoring a 45-minute hat-trick. They were deadly Infront of goal, converting five of their seven chances on target and dominated the ball with 59% possession. After an impressive opening performance and now winning 15 straight games, France look like one of the teams to beat this summer. 

Belgium started slowly, gaining a much-needed draw vs Iceland with a 67th minute Justine Vanhaevermaet penalty. They can draw inspiration from the fact that they have only lost twice in their previous 11 games and that they had a strong World Cup qualification. 

The last meeting between these neighbouring countries was in 2017, where France were victorious 2-0 after a dominating display. The Belgians will hope they progressed since then and can produce a better display five years later.
