DOITFORTHEVILLAGE was not disgraced in a competitive handicap chase at Cheltenham last month and he should be capable of exploiting a comparatively lenient mark of 115 over hurdles. The 10-year-old finished third in the Topham at Aintree in April off 25lb higher so he makes plenty of appeal. Gunnery remains unexposed over timber and is an obvious threat to the selection, with Storm Arising the pick of the remainder.

RIVER OF INTRIGUE probably needed his first couple of starts this autumn but the nine-year-old can be given another chance as he is just 1lb higher than when winning over C&D in April. Crossley Tender has strong form claims having won at Plumpton earlier in the month. Any market support for Pink Gin on his seasonal return would have to be noted.

Paul Nicholls has won the last three renewals of this race and his SAINT DE REVE could take all the beating after a promising hurdling debut at Exeter. The five-year-old showed promise in bumpers last season and has plenty of scope over trips such as this. Winning pointer Glynn is an intriguing recruit into the Nicky Henderson yard, while Rococo River was travelling within himself when falling over fences at Exeter last month and is also noted.

Musical Slave won a handicap hurdle at the Punchestown Festival and appeared in need of the run on his chase debut at Plumpton, while Moonlighter was travelling stylishly at Exeter on his first attempt over the larger obstacles before unseating his rider three out. Slight preference, though, is for Chris Gordon's BADDESLEY KNIGHT. Second behind a Grade 2 hurdles winner at Market Rasen on his fencing bow, that was a promising performance and he surely has more to offer.

VANDERBILT remains a maiden after 35 starts in all codes, but he has shaped with promise with placed efforts at Newton Abbot the last twice and deserves to land one of these soon. Still only a five-year-old, he has the pace to cope with this slight drop in trip and can account for Queen Adelaide, who outran big odds to finish fourth at Exeter. Right Destination is better than he showed on his handicap bow and has slipped to a tempting mark.
