His novice chase form from last season is top-class, rounding off with an impressive six-length victory in Grade 1 company at Aintree, and he was simply breathtaking when making a winning reappearance in the Colin Parker Memorial Chase at Carlisle 20 days ago. With that run under his belt, and the frightening potential of further progress, he is fancied to land the spoils. Frodon can build on his comeback effort at Aintree, where he was inconvenienced by a number of the fences being taken out, while Charlie Hall winner Ballyoptic will likely need others to falter to score.

Digger Daudaie was sent off favourite for that aforementioned contest and would appreciate any rain that falls, while Ian Williams won this last term and his Zerachiel, in a first-time visor, is worth keeping an eye on. Late Romantic, second to De Rasher Counter in a typically competitive Uttoxeter novice contest on Midlands National Day, bolted up on his reappearance at Wetherby and has to be respected despite an 8lb increase from the assessor.
