UK Horse Racing Tips: Haydock

ROSE FANDANGO steps back up to a mile after winning over a furlong shorter at Wolverhampton 10 days ago and gets the vote to follow up. She has a 5lb penalty to cope with this time around but the manner of her victory suggested there may be more to come. Mark Walford was the winning trainer of this race last year and runs Greek Kodiac this time around. He was a creditable third at Ripon last time and is respected off the same mark here, while Jewel Maker won a shade cosily at Carlisle last week and must also enter calculations.

Not much form to go on here so stakes may be best kept to a minimum, but Karl Burke has had a fine time of it with his two-year-old runners so far this season and AL NAJADA gets the vote to continue that run. The son of Exceed And Excel was a 55,000gns purchase last year and any market support for him could be significant. Richard Hannon always demands respect in this sphere and runs Supreme King, who is by Kingman and is worth noting. Al Muqdad is by the Australian sire Zoustar and cost 100,000gns, so he's an intriguing runner also.

IMPELLER was given a fine front running ride at Doncaster earlier in the month and, if allowed to dictate up front again this time around, he may take all the beating for the Tim Easterby yard who were responsible for winning division one of this race last year. Although Macho Pride has now been a beaten favourite on his last two starts, he's a previous winner over C&D and is now running off a career-low mark. Rainbow Mirage is a mare in fine form at present and another big run is predicted.

The hat-trick seeking SEVEN POCKETS just got caught late on to dead-heat with Figures for first place on his most recent outing over 1m3f at Kempton and he could take another step forward here. He represents an in-form stable and gets the vote ahead of Arctic Fox, who received a 1lb rise for her recent win at this track. The Nu Form Way is another to note.

Despite shouldering the burden of top-weight, POET'S MAGIC drops significantly in class having not been disgraced in a class 2 handicap at Chester earlier this month. She previously won over this distance last month and is only rated 3lb higher now. The reopposing Jilly Cooper has to be respected, while Rani Of Jhansi seeks further improvement on her return to turf.

In a very winnable maiden, marginal preference is for ALLO ARRY given he recorded an encouraging fourth on the all-weather last month. He is related to some notable milers, most significantly Hong Kong Harry who ended his career by winning a Grade 3 in the US. He was a dual winner in handicap territory at Ayr on both good and good to firm ground and, given the selection is a full-brother to him, he should have no problem transferring his all-weather form onto turf. Go Sing is another to consider dropping in trip, along with Floral Splendour on her debut.
