The seven-year-old mare may prefer softer conditions but she is well ahead of these on form, and it may be that the capable Theatre Glory is best placed to chase her home. Unbeaten over C&D, Molly Ollys Wishes cannot be ruled out either, despite showing little the last twice.

This looks like an ideal opportunity for JONBON to cement his place at the top of the Arkle betting market as he looks to take the same route that Edwardstone did last year. The brother to Douvan has looked a natural over the larger obstacles and boasts winning C&D form to boot. Recent C&D winner Haddex Des Obeaux is not one to take lightly, though, despite being rated 13lb lower than the selection. Bass Rock can pick up the pieces if there are any mishaps from the aforementioned pair.

HULLNBACK was a smart performer in bumpers, most notably when runner-up in the Grade 2 contest at Aintree in the spring, and Fergal O'Brien's gelding got off the mark at the second attempt over hurdles at Haydock in November. The form of that received a boost due to the runner-up finishing third in the Tolworth at Sandown and the six-year-old will need to be winning this comfortably to justify taking up either of his entries at Cheltenham next month. Gitche Gumee appears to be the only realistic threat on paper, with Byron Hill completing the shortlist having been in contention before unseating at Fontwell on his latest start.

HARTUR D'OUDAIRIES bumped into a well-handicapped rival on his return when second at Exeter and the son of Kapgarde, who had looked a promising individual when scoring on hurdles debut over C&D in November 2021, is open to further improvement on just his fourth outing over timber. Non Stop is likely to enter calculations after his recent C&D success on his handicap bow, while Mr Freedom and Langafel appeal most of the remainder.

After The Fox tries first-time blinkers after finishing last of the finishers on his latest start at Leicester, but he is now 2lb lower than his last winning mark and could be in contention. However, preference is for DIME STORE COWGIRL, who won over 2m on her last start. She was raised 4lb for that win and she could go in again with the step up in trip a possible source of improvement. Waterloo Quay showed improve form to finish second behind a subsequent winner on his latest outing and is not out of this.

A decent looking bumper with four last-time-out winners in the field and the one taken to come out on top is GUARD DUTY, who beat a subsequent winner on her bumper debut and has apprentice Jack Wildman claiming 7lb in the saddle again. Alan King is represented by Favour And Fortune, who won in nice style on his first start at Southwell and he is hard to rule out, even with the 7lb penalty to contend with. Gentleman Jacques is interesting on debut for last year's winning trainer/jockey combination of Charlie Longsdon and Jonathan Burke.
