Rumors have swirled lately about a potential trade for Nets’ star James Harden. With the deadline just days away anything could happen. However, oddsmakers don’t expect Harden to move this week.

Harden is given -500 odds, or an implied 83.3% chance to stay in Brooklyn. He’s given +300 odds, or an implied 25% chance to be dealt by Thursday’s deadline. That said, oddsmakers are still preparing for the possibility of a trade.

In the case that Harden does get traded, the 76ers are the overwhelming favorites to land him. Philadelphia is given -275 odds, or an implied 73.3% chance to be Harden’s landing spot if he is traded. They aren’t the only team in division that oddsmakers have eyes on. The Celtics are given +300 odds, or a 25% chance to land Harden. The Knicks are given +600 odds, or an implied 14.3% chance to make a deal. Even the Raptors are given +800 odds, or an implied 11.1% chance of getting something done.

It’s hard to imagine a star of Harden’s magnitude being traded at the deadline. Those deals are usually so massive that they take months to work out. So, while Harden may not be long for the Nets, the trade deadline doesn’t seem to be the time to make a deal, and oddsmakers know that. However, a deal surrounding Harden and Simmons makes sense for both sides. If there’s any hope a deal for either gets done before the deadline, it’ll be a Harden for Simmons swap of some kind.
