Kansas Sports Betting 2024

With sports betting in Kansas legalized in the summer of 2023, online bettors were officially able to place wagers from September 1.

We’ve put together an introduction into the leading sportsbook brands live in the Sunflower State.

Kansas Sports Betting Sites

Check out the top 5 online sportsbook operators that are live in Kansas:

• FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel is best-known for its daily fantasy sports platform that competes with DraftKings as the number-one portal for fantasy managers. Its online sportsbook has also been well-received, with a slick and intuitive desktop and mobile app that makes it easy to place and manage wagers. It’s partnered with multiple payment providers for fast and secure withdrawals, while its daily odds boosts are offered across most major league sports.

• DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings is one of the fastest growing online sportsbook brands in the US. Originally starting out in the daily fantasy sports scene, DraftKings has since become one of the most reputable sites for competitive sports betting lines and markets, particularly in the NFL as it is now the league’s official sports betting partner.

• BetMGM Sportsbook

The MGM brand has been synonymous with the betting industry for decades and the launch of its BetMGM Sportsbook has been well-received across the US. It has a rock-solid mobile sports betting app, which would make it easy to wager on the move throughout Kansas state. New customers can also take advantage of a $1,000 initial risk-free bet, which is likely to become one of the top Kansas promo codes.

• Caesars Sportsbook

Like MGM, Caesars is another iconic brand in the gambling scene and Caesars Sportsbook seemed like an inevitable move following the repeal of PASPA in 2018. Caesars purchased William Hill in 2021 and has used its US-based assets to rebrand as Caesars Sportsbook. Every wager placed earns points towards the Caesars Rewards program. Meanwhile a $1,100 risk-free initial bet is a great starting point for new customers.

Welcome Offers & Promo Codes

According to the sports betting bill passed by the House and Senate, each of the four land-based casinos in Kansas will be permitted to offer a maximum of three online skins. This means the maximum number of online sportsbooks in Kansas will be 12 from launch. Here's a look at their welcome offers:

Kansas Horse Racing Betting Sites

Horseracing betting is already legal in Kansas, but the state does not have any operational racetracks at present. That doesn’t mean you can’t wager on horseracing elsewhere in the US. Below, we’ve put together the most popular sites for pari-mutuel wagering on horseracing in Kansas:

• DRF Bets

DRF is one of the brands most synonymous with US horseracing. This safe, legal and highly secure platform makes it easy to bet on US horse races via desktop or mobile. Get access to expert picks and pre-race data, while first deposit match bonuses of up to $250 are another huge benefit to newbies.

• TwinSpires

TwinSpires is one of America’s premier online horseracing sites. Owned by parent company Churchill Downs, the venue for the Kentucky Derby, it’s easy to see why TwinSpires gets plenty of love from US horseracing bettors. Bet on the biggest races across the US, the UK and mainland Europe.

• TVG

TVG has long been one of the leading cable and satellite networks for horseracing in the US. The FanDuel Group-owned network has since launched its own regulated online horseracing betting site. Take advantage of Daily TVG Picks, as well as a $200 risk-free wager for new sign-ups with your first win-type bet.

• BetAmerica

BetAmerica is now part of the TwinSpires brand. It features advanced handicapping to improve your picks, including the ability to download free past performances for any track – providing you place a real-money bet.

Kansas Sports Betting Legislation

It has been something of a whirlwind for sports betting in Kansas in 2023. As of March 18, lawmakers in the state sought approval from a House committee to put forward a legitimate sports betting bill that could garner the widespread approval of the Senate.

A week later, representatives in Kansas debated a new sports betting bill for the state. Despite a minor procedural roadblock, SB 84 – the long-awaited sports betting bill for Kansas – was brought to the floor by the Kansas House. It comfortably passed the House, but not in time for the Senate to vote prior to its three-week veto break.

SB 84 finally made its bow in the Kansas Senate on April 29. Following a late-night session, the bill was approved by 21 votes to 13 in favor of the legalization of retail and online sports betting in Kansas. The bill states that all tax revenues generated by the state’s sports betting industry will be pumped into a new “attraction fund” designed to underpin the state’s professional sports teams. In this way, the state’s sports bettors will effectively act as the lifeblood of their favorite sports franchises.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly authorized the new sports betting bill into law on May 12, less than two months after SB 84 was sent to a House committee. The bill is effective from July 1, with a string of established sportsbook operators already keen to launch in partnership with established casinos in the state.
