Next Utah Jazz Head Coach Odds: Johnnie Bryant Given 25% Chance to Land the Job

Oddsmakers have zeroed in on two strong favorites to become the next head coach of the Utah Jazz. Knicks assistant Johnnie Bryant leads the way with former Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts not far behind.

Bryant is given +300 odds (Bet $100 to win $300), or an implied 25% chance to land the job. Stotts is given +350 odds (Bet $100 to win $350), or an implied 22.2% chance. Oddsmakers have separated these two from the field with third place Frank Vogel at +600 (Bet $100 to win $600), or an implied 14.3% chance.

However, it should still be noted that 9 coaches in total have at least a 10% chance to land this job. That makes the Jazz head coaching position the most unpredictable of the entire offseason. For comparison, oddsmakers only gave 5 coaches at least a 10% chance.

Bryant being the favorite here makes a ton of sense, he’s a former Jazz assistant and has a strong relationship with star guard Donovan Mitchell. However, oddsmakers are not saying it’s a lock and it’s worth noting that new Lakers head coach Darvin Ham wasn’t even on the odds market when it opened for the Lakers job.

Oddsmakers are already admitting that this job is an unknown by giving 9 candidates at least a 10% chance, even if Bryant and Stotts seem like the favorites now anything can and likely will happen during this coaching search.
