Kevin Durant Trade Odds

Kevin Durant is given +150 odds to be traded before the season begins, that’s just an implied 40% chance. They give -200 odds, or an implied 66.7% chance, to be on Brooklyn’s roster to start the season.

As for where he could end up, sportsbooks are already moving the odds. The Celtics have seen their odds lengthen from -175 to -140. That’s a change from an implied 63.6% chance to an implied 58.3% chance. Meanwhile, their biggest competition is expected to be the Suns who remain at +350 to land Durant. The biggest mover on the odds market is the Miami Heat who’ve gone from +2500 to +500 to land Durant. A change from an implied 3.8% chance to an implied 16.7% chance.

A Durant trade was always going to be complicated. How do you get proper value for arguably the best player in the NBA? With such a complicated market, and with another star in Donovan Mitchell on the market, it’s going to be hard to get proper value.

Could the Nets wait out Durant and potentially move him at the trade deadline? It wouldn’t be unprecedented after Philadelphia waited out Ben Simmons last year.
