SEC Championship Preview, Breakdown: An Early Look at Georgia vs. Texas
The Georgia Bulldogs and the Texas Longhorns meet for a heavyweight battle on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.
The winner of this game will earn an automatic bid and a bye into the College Football Playoffs.
The loser of this game will still likely reach the playoffs, but they'll have to play in the opening round and miss out on a week off to prepare.
This game will be a rematch from earlier in the season.
Georgia defeated Texas 30-15 in the Lone Star State on October 19. Bulldogs back Trevor Etienne rushed for three touchdowns in the win.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers struggled in the loss with two turnovers. Ewers was benched in the first half in favor of Arch Manning.
Texas turned back to Ewers, who played much better in the second half, but it was too little too late.

SEC Championship Preview and Game Breakdown
The Longhorns begin this game with a record of 11-1. That record has Texas ranked second in the nation as one of the only teams in the country that has been able to avoid a loss to a bad team. There is something to be said about that.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian will lead his team to back-to-back playoff appearances. Last season, Texas was defeated in the Semifinals by the Washington Huskies.
Texas is coming off an impressive 17-7 win in College Station last weekend over Texas A&M.
Ewers leads the team with 2,307 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Glenn Heights, Texas native Quintrevion Winser has rushed for 812 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Gunnar Helm has collected a team-leading 600 receiving yards.
Texas ranks second in points allowed per game (11.7).
The Longhorns would love nothing more than to win an SEC Championship in their first year part of the conference.
Georgia missed out on the playoffs last season after winning back-to-back National Championships.
The Bulldogs played in the game of the year on Black Friday. They went into rivalry week as a 17.5-point favorite over Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets opened a 17-0 lead into the locker room.
Georgia stormed back in the second half to force overtime, scoring the game-tying touchdown with 1:01 left. Both teams scored touchdowns on their first two drives, forcing a third overtime.
College football rules require each team to attempt a two-point conversion after two overtimes. After eight overtimes, the Bulldogs stopped the Yellow Jackets and sealed the deal with a two-yard run by Nate Frazier.
Carson Beck leads Georgia, throwing for 3,429 yards, 28 touchdowns, and twelve interceptions. Nate Frazier has rushed for a team-leading 587 yards and eight touchdowns. Bradley Florida native Arian Smith has racked up 709 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Georgia ranks 29th in points allowed per game (22.1).
Texas comes into the SEC Championship as the betting favorite. 2.5 points favor the Longhorns, and the total for this contest is 49.5.
