Fresh off the best year of his young career, Bills QB Josh Allen has become a popular pick to win the this year's NFL MVP award.

Actually, he’s become the single most popular pick to take home the trophy.

Allen, who is entering his third season with the Bills after being drafted 7th overall by Buffalo, is seen as a long shot to win the award by bookmakers. His +5000 odds give him just a 2% implied probability, but he’s been backed by an overwhelming 24% of bettors.

For reference, this season’s favorite to win the award, Patrick Mahomes, has been backed by 12% of bettors and his +350 odds give him a 22.2% chance of winning.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (+3000) has been the second-most-popular pick, bringing in 14% of all bets, while Philip Rivers (+7000) has brought in 9% of all bets and Carson Wentz (+2800) has brought in 8%.

If Allen is ever going to take the next step from solid starter to NFL superstar, this is the year. The addition of wideout Stefon Diggs gives him a true No. 1 receiver for the first time in his career to go alongside John Brown and Cole Beasley.

It also doesn’t hurt that, for the first time in 20 years, Tom Brady is no longer lurking in the AFC East. It looks as though it’s anyone’s division to take this season and a team like Buffalo, which made the playoffs as a wild card team last year, is a popular pick to take over the reins.

If the Bills can win the division while Allen puts up big numbers, he has as good of a chance as anyone to win MVP.
