Giants vs. Falcons Betting Odds

The New York Giants are riding a two-game losing streak into Week 3, with losses to the Denver Broncos at home and the Washington Football Team on the road in the first two weeks of the season. To say it's been a disappointing start to the season for second-year head coach Joe Judge and third-year quarterback Daniel Jones is an understatement.

Similarly, the Atlanta Falcons entered the 2021 NFL season amidst high hopes. However, two weeks in, the Falcons have an empty win column to show for their efforts. Compounding matters further is how badly they lost – back-to-back blowout losses to the Philadelphia Eagles at home and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road.

Early lookahead lines had the Giants laying 2.5 points to the Falcons and a 48.5-point total before Week 2. At the close of Sunday's action, books went to press with Giants -3 and a total of 47 points

New York Giants Odds & Overview

The Giants are coming off a heart-breaking 30-29 loss to the Washington Football team on Sunday. It marked Daniel Jones' first loss to the WFT in five meetings, marring one of the few positive records the third-year quarterback has to his credit.

The Giants should have won the game, but an undisciplined penalty gave Washington a second-crack at a game-winning field goal. The first attempt went awry. But Ron Rivera's side capitalized on the chance to replay the down after a controversial offside. Unfortunately, the second attempt was good, and the Giants were left utterly devasted as the pigskin sailed gaily between the posts.

The Giants are 0-2 SU and ATS with an average losing margin of 7.5 points. Since 2020, they're 6-12-0 SU with an average losing margin of 5.1 points. On the bright side, they're 10-8-0 ATS with a -0.1 differential versus the spread.

Atlanta Falcons Odds & Overview

Atlanta is coming off a second straight blowout. Week 1 was bad enough after the Falcons lost 32-6 to the Eagles. But then things got much worse behind a lopsided 48-25 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in Week 2.

The Falcons have issues in all facets of the game. The offense is all over the place; Matt Ryan appears to be missing his favorite target, Julio Jones'; the defense is as porous as Swiss cheese; and, finally, special teams aren't special at all. And yet, Matt Ryan is still hopeful that these back-to-back losses setbacks aren't going to hurt Atlanta's post-season aspirations. He insists the Falcons can still make the playoffs in the new 17-game NFL season.

If so, first-year head coach Arthur Smith has his work cut out to orchestrate the complete turnaround because what Atlanta has shown in the first couple of weeks doesn't support Ryan's claims at all. The Falcons are 4-14-0 SU and 7-11-0 ATS with an average losing margin of 3.7.

New York Giants vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Prediction

It's hard enough to get excited about a matchup between two winless teams on most occasions. Even harder when the teams in question are struggling. Thus, this game is a bit of a toss-up for NFL picks.

The Giants were close to clinching the first win of the season in Week 2. That proximity to the DUB, along with being competitive against the vaunted Washington defense, underscores their favorable odds. By contrast, the Falcons are a hot mess, which takes the shine off of their odds. Not to mention, they lost to the Eagles.

Everything about this game points to a Giants win. But if it were to go against the grain, it wouldn't be the first time the Giants failed to live up to expectations.

NFL Picks: Falcons +3 (-105)
