Indianapolis Colts Next Head Coach Odds: Sportsbooks Shock Bettors, Make Wink Martindale the Favorite
On Friday Jeff Saturday seemed a lock to land the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job. Nobody else was near him on the odds market, as of yesterday he was given -175 odds or an implied 63.6% chance to land the permanent job. Then everything changed later in the day.

Indianapolis Colts Next Head Coach Odds
Coach | Odds as of 10 AM | Odds as of 5:30 PM |
---|---|---|
Wink Martindale | +700 | -150 |
Jeff Saturday | -175 | +300 |
Raheem Morris | +375 | +500 |
Shane Steichen | +500 | +1000 |
Aaron Glenn | +2000 | +1000 |
Wink Martindale was given just +700 odds, or an implied 12.5% chance to land the Colts head coach job on Saturday. That was fourth on the market behind Saturday, Raheem Morris, and Shane Steichen. Now he’s the runaway favorite and appears to have the job locked up with -150 odds or an implied 60% chance to be the Colts' next head coach.
Saturday is still the next closest, but his odds have dropped all the way to +300, or an implied 25% chance to land the job. Morris has also seen his odds tumble down to +500, or an implied 16.7% chance. Steichen isn’t even given a 10% chance to land the job anymore.
This is by far the biggest single-day change on an NFL market this offseason. At no point on any next head coach market, any next team market, or even a draft market has anyone seen their odds move this fast. The sportsbooks clearly believe that there’s some smoke here and that Wink Martindale is about to be the next Colts head coach.
