This is a massive change from where they were when the odds first appeared in February. Back then, McCormick was the clear favorite at -140, Dr. Oz was second at +165, and Kathy Barnett had little to no shot at +3300. So, if you’re looking for the candidate with the most momentum right now, it may be Barnette despite Oz’s position as the favorite.
Pennsylvania is one of those states that’s incredibly difficult to poll, alongside Wisconsin and Michigan. That’s why a race with three candidates so close at the top like this one is so tough to call. It’s clear that oddsmakers believe that the polls are correct, and Dr. Oz will win the primary. However, it would be foolish to dismiss the crazy momentum that has shown up for Kathy Barnette. To go from +3300 to +160 is no joke. It’s clear that she’s a very real contender in this fight.
