Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks Prediction: Expect Phoenix to Dominate Game 2

The Phoenix Suns defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 121-114 in the first game of the West Semifinals. The Suns are back to full strength with Devin Booker back in the lineup. Booker went off for 23 points and tallied nine rebounds with eight assists in the first game.

Meanwhile, Dallas had Luka Doncic contributing 45 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists. However, other than Doncic, the lack of production was staggering. Can the Mavericks get more out of their role players in Game 2? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Wednesday's game between the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks Prediction

The Dallas Mavericks shot 47.1% from the field and 41% from deep in Game 1, however, it still wasn't enough against the top seed in the West.

The Suns, on the other hand, shot 50.5% from the field and nailed 39.3% of shots from deep.

The Mavericks are always going to chuck up countless threes. In Game 1, those shots dropped, going 16-for-39 from deep. However, at the foul line, the Mavericks were owned, only hitting 72% of attempts. The Suns, on the other hand, nailed every single foul shot, going 18-for-18.

That was essentially the difference of the game from a numbers standpoint. Both teams were pretty diligent with the basketball but the Suns absolutely dominated the Mavericks on the glass, winning 51-to-36.

What was most obvious in the first game is Dallas' inability to defend inside the arc. DeAndre Ayton went 12-for-20 from the field and scored 25 points. It just seemed so easy for the big man.

Still, Dallas scored more points in the paint in Game 1, which is a bit surprising knowing how well the Mavericks shot the three-ball in that game.

Anyway, in Game 2, we can expect a lot of the same. Shooting might not be as easy, but both teams will limit turnovers with Phoenix earning more rebounds and more opportunities. With Phoenix at home, the Suns should still be consistent and confident at the foul line, which would propel them in this second game. Back Phoenix in Game 2.
