Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns Game 4 Prediction
The Mavericks stepped up their game on Friday with a major win and a great defensive performance to keep themselves in contention in the West. The Mavericks held the Suns to 44.7% from the field but still allowed Phoenix to shoot 46.4% from downtown. It wasn’t the best defensive performance, but it was enough behind Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson who both combined for over 50 points in the win.
Dallas took 39 three-point attempts and nailed just 13 of them but still shot just as well as the Suns, shooting 44.4% from the field. Neither team forced their way to the line as much and the Suns still won the rebounding battle by nine. But the most shocking stat of the entire game was that the Suns scored 50 points in the paint while the Suns only scored 32 points in the paint. That’s a true opposite to how Game 2 played out.
Plus, the Mavericks forced 17 turnovers while the Suns only forced eight from the Mavericks. Dallas was careful with the ball and gained more shot attempts because of the fact that the Mavericks earned so many more turnovers.
However, the Suns were poor inside the arc in this game but dominated that area in the first two games. Sure, the Mavericks turned up the intensity but overall, Phoenix should respond with a better game plan in this next game.
The Suns weren’t bad defensively and ultimately didn’t shoot the ball brutally either. The reality is, that the Suns need to limit turnovers and score inside at a higher rate in Game 4.
That’s what the Suns have been doing all season. As long as Pheonix makes those adjustments, they’ll win Game 4 and have a chance to win the series back at home.
