ANALYSIS

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat Prediction: Can the Sixers Continue Their Hot Shooting in Game 4?

On Thursday, Joel Embiid was listed as “Out” for Friday’s game against the Miami Heat. On Friday, Embiid ended up playing for the 76ers, helping them to their first win of the East Semifinals series against the Miami Heat.

The 76ers didn’t just win Game 3. The 76ers won that game by 20 with Joel Embiid wearing an uncomfortable mask on his face. Embiid was supposed to have a minutes restriction but instead played 36 minutes and tallied up a double-double.

Will the 76ers earn back-to-back wins with Embiid on the floor for Game 4? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Sunday’'s game between the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers.

76ers vs Heat Game 4 Line Movement

Philadelphia 76ers vs Miami Heat Prediction

The Miami Heat scored just 79 points in the loss to the 76ers on Friday Night. That happened, even with Kyle Lowry back in the lineup, who had missed multiple games due to injury.

The Heat shot just 35.1% in Game 3 and hit only 23.3% of threes in that game. It was just an awful shooting night for a Miami Heat team that is usually consistent from all spots on the floor.

The Heat were able to force 19 turnovers from the 76ers but even that wasn’t enough.

The Heat took 10 more shots in Game 3, but that wasn’t enough.

The Heat had more opportunities at the foul line, but that wasn’t enough.

But if they continue to earn the advantages in all of these categories, it will be enough when shots ultimately fall. The defensive effort was there for the Heat. They earned seven more turnovers. The rebounding lacked a bit with Embiid back out on the floor, but the Heat were still able to get up more shot attempts in this game.

Usually, when you force more turnovers, earn more free throws and take 10 more shots than the opposition, you’re going to be in a good place at the end of the game. The Heat shot so poorly that they lost by 20 points instead.

Embiid coming back will make a huge impact, of course. This series is far from over. Both teams ended up scoring 28 points inside the paint and the Heat ended up earning two more offensive rebounds in this game.

On the other hand, the 76ers shot 48.5% from downtown and 47.8% from inside the arc on their home floor. That’s also hard to sustain moving forward. The energy with Embiid back for the Heat was terrific and that will continue on in Game 4.

But analytically, the Heat should shoot at a better rate in Game 4 while the 76ers are likely not going to shoot nearly 50% from downtown.

I’ll take my chances with the Miami Heat as they reset and regroup for Game 4.
