I love when we have a Saturday full of college hoops. That’s the case today as we get down to the final two days of the regular season. This means it is conference championship games today or conference semifinals. The conference we're getting into is the ACC. I have to admit, I chirped how bad the ACC was pre-conference tournament season, but this has been a very good tournament. Boston College pulled off a huge upset over Wake Forest and took Miami down to the last possession.

The biggest surprise perhaps of the tournament has been the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Hokies came into the tournament looking like a first four out team, but their status has since improved, and it is hard to imagine they have not already punched their ticket to the big dance.
The funny thing about sports and winning is how one play can make or break it. That was the case for Virginia Tech, who was down by two points against Clemson in the first round with three seconds left and hit a buzzer-beater three to advance. Following the game-winner, Virginia Tech knocked off the number two seed in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That was a win that likely put them in the tournament, but their win last night over North Carolina should make the Hokies feel pretty comfortable that they will get in now. Their most challenging test of the tournament comes tonight, in the form of the Duke Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils have been one of the best teams in all of the nation this season, led by future lottery pick Paolo Banchero. This is a loaded Duke roster that currently has five players projected to be drafted in the first round and three in the lottery. Duke feels like they are the best team in the ACC, and they want to close up a great season tonight with a win. The legendary Coach K will be coaching his final ACC game tonight for the Blue Devils.Â
The play I am turning to is going to be to fade this loaded Duke team.
This time of year, you need to bet on hot and hungry teams, and that’s the case with Virginia Tech. The Hokies came into the tournament with a dog mentality that they have to play like every game is their last, and I think they play with that same mindset tonight. The first time these two teams played, Virginia Tech was leading by four at the half, but Duke pulled away in the second half.
That was a tough spot for Virginia Tech and also a road game. Tonight, they will be playing at a neutral court and playing with a lot of momentum. The way Virginia Tech can defend makes me love this line. I think this could turn into a rock fight and be a pretty low-scoring game. I like getting points in these types of games, and I do believe Virginia Tech can win this game outright. Virginia Tech has also shown they can play with pace and turn a game into a track meet. I have been riding the Hokies all conference tournament, and they have been very good to me, so let’s keep it up tonight!Â
