4 Minute ReadPanthers vs. Jaguars Prediction: Can Bryce Young Lift Panthers on Road in Limited Action Tonight?
Carolina is a 1.5-point road favorite at -110, with Jacksonville +1.5 at the same price. The Panthers are -125 on the moneyline, the Jaguars are +105, and the total sits at 36.5. Both clubs are expected to use more regular-season personnel than they did earlier in the preseason, making the early quarterback rotations especially important.
Carolina went 8-9 last season but still won the NFC South before losing a tight 34-31 Wild Card game to the Rams. Jacksonville made a much larger jump, finishing 13-4 and winning the AFC South before its season ended with a 27-24 home loss to Buffalo in the Wild Card round. The Jaguars have the stronger 2025 résumé, but Carolina enters Friday with more urgency surrounding its first-team offense.

Panthers vs. Jaguars Prediction
The Panthers lost 29-14 at Buffalo last Saturday after winning the Hall of Fame Game 33-30 over Arizona. Bryce Young and the starters were originally scheduled for roughly 10-20 snaps against the Bills, but the offense managed only 10 official plays after three consecutive three-and-outs. Young finished 3-of-5 for 18 yards before Kenny Pickett replaced him, and Carolina never established any rhythm with its first unit.
Dave Canales is giving that group another opportunity Friday. Young and the healthy starters are expected to play again after also getting extensive work against Jacksonville in Wednesday's joint practice. There has not been a precise snap count announced, but another early-game stint is expected, and Carolina has clear incentive to let the offense finish on a much stronger note after failing to earn an extended series in Buffalo. Chuba Hubbard remains sidelined, while Jonathon Brooks should continue getting valuable work after returning from his lengthy knee rehabilitation.
Jacksonville is changing its own preseason approach. Trevor Lawrence and almost every established starter sat during last week's 24-20 comeback victory over New Orleans, but Liam Coen has indicated that Lawrence and the first team could play a couple of drives Friday. It will be their only significant preseason game action, as Coen has already said the starters will not play in the finale against Tampa Bay.
Once Lawrence exits, Nick Mullens sits behind him on the depth chart, followed by Carter Bradley and Joey Aguilar. Carolina can counter with Pickett after Young leaves, while Kyle Trask provides another experienced option and Haynes King's hamstring situation continues to be monitored. That gives the Panthers a useful veteran presence behind their starter rather than leaving the entire second half to developmental quarterbacks.
Jacksonville's reserves deserve credit for erasing a 14-point deficit against New Orleans, with J'Mari Taylor scoring the eventual winning touchdown. Carolina, however, enters Friday with more to prove after its starters were badly outplayed in Buffalo, and Young's connection with Tetairoa McMillan looked considerably sharper during the joint practice as the session progressed.
Panthers vs. Jaguars Pick
- Pick: Panthers ML (-125) Check out these best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
The Jaguars may own the better regular-season roster, but preseason betting is about expected usage rather than projecting Week 1. Carolina should get another meaningful early look from Young, has Pickett available behind him and is treating this as an opportunity to correct last week's offensive failure. With only a modest -125 price required, the Panthers moneyline is preferable to laying the 1.5 points.
