Trevor Lawrence Jaguars throw

Browns vs. Jaguars Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest NFL Odds for Sunday, September 13th

The Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars open the season with very different expectations after Jacksonville won 13 games and Cleveland finished near the bottom of the AFC. Deshaun Watson returns after a long absence for a Browns offense featuring an entirely rebuilt offensive line, while Trevor Lawrence leads the defending AFC South champions. Check out this Browns vs. Jaguars prediction and best bet for Sunday, September 13.

Browns vs. Jaguars Prediction: Can Trevor Lawrence, Jags Take Advantage of Disorganized Browns in Week 1?

Cleveland visits EverBank Stadium at 1:00 PM ET on CBS as an 8.5-point underdog. Jacksonville is one of Sunday's largest favorites, while the total is a modest 40.5.

Todd Monken makes his debut as Cleveland's head coach with Watson back under center after nearly two years away from a starting role. Jacksonville enters with much more continuity after a 13-4 season, creating a matchup where the Browns may prioritize survival and field position rather than pace.

Browns vs. Jaguars Recent Results

Cleveland finished 5-12 and responded by changing coaches, coordinators and much of the offense. All five Browns starting offensive linemen are new additions, with guard Teven Jenkins already ruled out and center Parker Brailsford carrying a questionable designation.

Jacksonville went 13-4 and won the AFC South before losing 27-24 to Buffalo in the Wild Card round. The Jaguars averaged close to 28 points during the regular season and enter 2026 with considerably fewer questions at quarterback and across the offensive structure.

Browns vs. Jaguars Head to Head

  • September 15, 2024: Cleveland Browns 18, Jacksonville Jaguars 13
  • December 10, 2023: Cleveland Browns 31, Jacksonville Jaguars 27
  • November 29, 2020: Cleveland Browns 27, Jacksonville Jaguars 25
  • November 19, 2017: Jacksonville Jaguars 19, Cleveland Browns 7
  • October 19, 2014: Jacksonville Jaguars 24, Cleveland Browns 6

Cleveland has won three straight in the series, but the current versions of these rosters are dramatically different. The more relevant theme is that Jacksonville has not consistently turned this matchup into a track meet.

Browns vs. Jaguars Line Movement and Betting Splits

Jacksonville opened around -7.5 and has moved through the key number of eight to -8.5. The total has remained at 40.5, showing that the move toward the Jaguars has not been accompanied by expectations for a substantially higher-scoring game.

Jacksonville has 66% of spread bets and 69% of the handle. The total is almost perfectly divided, with the Over taking 51% of bets and 52% of the money.

Browns vs. Jaguars Prediction

Cleveland's offensive line is the central issue. Starting five new linemen in Week 1 would already create communication concerns, and doing it with additional injury uncertainty against Jacksonville's defensive front raises the difficulty considerably.

Watson also has to rediscover regular-season timing after such a long absence. Monken can simplify the assignment with quick throws, screens and a conservative running game, but those concepts are designed more to avoid disaster than create explosive scoring drives.

Jacksonville should be able to control field position. The Jaguars do not need Lawrence to repeatedly push the ball downfield if Cleveland struggles to sustain possessions. A run-heavy second half becomes increasingly likely if Jacksonville builds a double-digit advantage.

That script is important because a large favorite can dominate without producing an Over. A 24-10 or 27-10 Jacksonville win would comfortably cover the spread while keeping the game below 40.5.

Cleveland's defense also gives the Under a path even if its offense struggles. The Browns can still generate pressure, and a defensive unit facing a predictable Jacksonville game plan should be able to prevent the Jaguars from needing 30-plus points.

The biggest danger is short fields created by Watson turnovers. Cleveland must avoid handing Lawrence possessions inside scoring range. If the Browns can simply protect the ball and punt rather than commit catastrophic mistakes, the clock should become their ally.

Browns vs. Jaguars Best Bet

Cleveland has too many new offensive pieces to expect immediate efficiency, beginning with a completely reconstructed offensive line and a quarterback returning from an extended absence. Jacksonville can control this game without playing aggressively for four quarters.

The ideal Under script is straightforward: the Jaguars build a lead, Cleveland struggles to create explosives and both teams lean into the running game as possessions disappear.
