Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow

Buccaneers vs. Bengals Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest NFL Odds for Sunday, September 13th

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals open the 2026 season with two proven quarterbacks and plenty of offensive firepower on both sides. Joe Burrow is healthy again for Cincinnati, while Baker Mayfield leads a Tampa Bay team trying to rebound after missing the playoffs last season. Check out this Buccaneers vs. Bengals prediction and best bet for Sunday, September 13.

Buccaneers vs. Bengals Prediction: Can Joe Burrow, Bengals Start Hot at Home in Week 1?

The Buccaneers travel to Paycor Stadium for a 1:00 PM ET kickoff against the Bengals on FOX. Cincinnati enters as a 3.5-point home favorite, with the total sitting at 50.5 in one of the highest-scoring projections on Sunday's board.

Tampa Bay is trying to stabilize after injuries helped turn a 6-2 start into an 8-9 season, while Cincinnati is attempting to get back into the AFC playoff picture after Burrow's toe injury derailed a 6-11 campaign. Both teams made defensive changes during the offseason, but the matchup still revolves around which quarterback can consistently exploit the opposing secondary.

Buccaneers vs. Bengals Recent Results

Tampa Bay finished 8-9 in 2025 after opening 6-2, with injuries and late-game problems eventually knocking the Buccaneers out of the playoff race. Mayfield still threw for 3,693 yards with 26 touchdowns, but Tampa Bay enters Week 1 with some offensive depth concerns, including Jalen McMillan and Sean Tucker carrying doubtful designations.

Cincinnati went 6-11 after Burrow missed nine games with a toe injury. Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are back together, while the Bengals responded to last year's defensive issues by making major investments up front, including the additions of Dexter Lawrence II and Jonathan Allen.

Buccaneers vs. Bengals Line Movement and Betting Splits

Cincinnati opened around -3.5 and remains at that number, so the market has shown little interest in pushing the Bengals through the key number of four. The total has similarly held around 50.5.

The Bengals have 51% of spread bets and 57% of the handle, while Tampa Bay has 49% of tickets and 43% of the money. Cincinnati's moneyline support is much heavier, with 77% of bets and 69% of the handle landing on the home favorite.

Buccaneers vs. Bengals Prediction

Cincinnati's biggest advantage is the health of Burrow. His absence defined much of last season, and the Bengals are dramatically more difficult to defend when Chase and Higgins can stress opposite sides of the field while Burrow controls protections and works quickly underneath pressure.

Tampa Bay does have the personnel to disrupt that formula. Rookie Rueben Bain Jr. joins Yaya Diaby, Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey in a front that should be much more dangerous than Cincinnati's average opponent. The Buccaneers' best path to staying within the number is making Burrow uncomfortable without sacrificing extra defenders in coverage.

The other side of the ball is where Cincinnati's offseason investment becomes particularly important. Lawrence and Allen give the Bengals significantly more size and interior disruption, and the objective is clear: generate pressure without forcing the secondary to survive repeated blitz situations.

Mayfield can punish aggressive defenses, but he also creates turnover opportunities when pressure forces him off his first read. With McMillan doubtful and Tampa Bay's offensive depth already being tested, Cincinnati has a better chance of creating negative plays than it did with last year's defensive personnel.

The Bengals also have the cleaner path to controlling the game script. An early lead allows Cincinnati to lean on Chase Brown, use play action and force Mayfield into a higher-volume passing game. Tampa Bay can absolutely score enough to remain competitive, but matching Burrow possession for possession in Cincinnati is a difficult Week 1 assignment.

This does not need to become a blowout for -3.5 to cash. Cincinnati's offensive ceiling is high enough to reach the upper 20s or low 30s, and the rebuilt defensive front gives the Bengals a better chance of creating the one or two drive-ending plays needed to separate.

Buccaneers vs. Bengals Best Bet

Burrow's return changes the entire outlook for Cincinnati, while the Bengals addressed their clearest weakness by rebuilding the defensive front. Tampa Bay has enough offense to make this competitive, but Cincinnati has the better quarterback, home field and a more favorable path to creating separation.

The number requires the Bengals to win by more than a field goal, but this is a spot where Cincinnati should be capable of getting into the high 20s and forcing Mayfield to chase the game.
