Commanders vs. Eagles Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest NFL Odds for Sunday, September 13th

The Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles open the season with an NFC East matchup that brings Jayden Daniels back into the rivalry after an injury-shortened 2025. Philadelphia remains the division favorite behind Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and Vic Fangio's defense, while both offenses enter with new coordinators. Check out this Commanders vs. Eagles prediction and best bet for Sunday, September 13.

Commanders vs. Eagles Prediction: Will Saquon Barkley, Eagles Prevail in Week 1 Divisional Battle?

Washington visits Lincoln Financial Field for a 4:25 PM ET kickoff on FOX. Philadelphia is favored by 6 with the total at 44.5.

The Eagles are trying to defend consecutive NFC East titles, while Washington is attempting to rebound from a 5-12 season. Daniels' return changes the ceiling of the Commanders' offense, but Philadelphia owns significant advantages in the trenches and enters with far greater continuity on defense.

Commanders vs. Eagles Recent Results

Washington finished 5-12 in a season heavily affected by Daniels' elbow injury. The Commanders changed both coordinators and added multiple pieces during the offseason, but the offensive line enters Week 1 without left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Philadelphia went 11-6 and won the NFC East again. The Eagles made their own offensive change by hiring Sean Mannion as coordinator, but Fangio remains in charge of a defense built around Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and a deep front.

Commanders vs. Eagles Head to Head

  • January 4, 2026: Washington Commanders 24, Philadelphia Eagles 17
  • December 20, 2025: Philadelphia Eagles 29, Washington Commanders 18

  • December 22, 2024: Washington Commanders 36, Philadelphia Eagles 33
  • November 14, 2024: Philadelphia Eagles 26, Washington Commanders 18

The rivalry has produced volatility, but Philadelphia's most important recent result was the 55-23 NFC Championship Game demolition in January 2025. Washington did win the final meeting last season, although the Eagles have generally held the physical advantage when both teams are playing meaningful football.

Commanders vs. Eagles Line Movement and Betting Splits

Philadelphia opened around -5.5 and has moved to -6. The total has settled at 44.5 after trading higher at portions of the market.

The Eagles have 67% of spread bets and 74% of the handle, along with 92% of moneyline tickets and 93% of the money. The Under also has an extreme 87% share of the total handle despite receiving 56% of bets.

Commanders vs. Eagles Prediction

Daniels gives Washington a chance to break structure in ways most quarterbacks cannot. His mobility forces Philadelphia to account for an extra gap in the running game and makes conventional pass-rush lanes more difficult to maintain.

The problem is the offensive line. Losing Tunsil creates a major issue against Philadelphia's defensive front, which can rotate pass rushers and create interior pressure without asking Fangio to compromise his coverage structure.

Philadelphia should also be able to lean on Barkley and the offensive line. Washington's best path is forcing Hurts into obvious passing downs under Mannion's new system, but that becomes difficult if the Eagles consistently win first down on the ground.

The new coordinator introduces some uncertainty, yet Philadelphia has the luxury of installing changes around established personnel. Hurts, Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and the offensive line are not learning how to play together from scratch.

Washington's revamped defense may improve over last season, but Week 1 against Philadelphia is a difficult evaluation point. The Eagles can attack with power, quarterback runs, play action and vertical throws without becoming dependent on any single concept.

The spread remains below a full touchdown. Philadelphia can win 27-20 and cover, while a game in which its defensive line overwhelms Washington's protection could create considerably more separation.

Commanders vs. Eagles Best Bet

Daniels makes Washington dangerous, but the Eagles hold the matchup advantage in the trenches on both sides. The absence of Tunsil is particularly difficult against a Philadelphia defense capable of generating pressure without blitzing recklessly.

Laying less than a touchdown at home is preferable to paying the heavily juiced moneyline. Philadelphia has enough ways to control possession and force Washington into uncomfortable passing situations to win by seven or more.
